As far as new breakouts go, I have had none. It also seems as the existing ones are healing much faster. Ive been living off of nothing but raw fruits and vegetables, nuts and beans, water and green tea. Cheap and convenient. Although im not sure it is very healthy in the long run.

I would have never thought that diet played such a big part but so far Im very happy with the results. In a few days I will start adding things back into my diet, one by one, anyone have any ideas what to add first? I definately wont throw dairy back in as it is my number 1 suspect.

You can always add rice back in, as that food is essentially non-allergenic. Then you should add a source of monounsaturated fat, like virgin olive oil, and then meat. Then you have a perfectly healthful diet.
------------
Clear for 8+ months now through striving for optimal fitness levels, stress levels, sleep, nutrient density in my body, and an overall holistic lifestyle approach.

Diet (I stick to this as much as I can): pastured eggs; pastured meat; wild-caught seafood; lots of vegetables (1+ pounds a day); fat sources from coconut oil, olive oil, butter, and cream; some fruit whenever I crave it; tea; and purified water. I use organic, free-range, locally grown food whenever possible, but I believe that even the most pesticide-ridden apple is better than the highest-quality junk food.

I eat absolutely no gluten. I limit intake of all grains, but up to two servings of non-glutenous grain a day is fine. I avoid all forms of sweetener--high fructose corn syrup, "all-natural cane sugar", Splenda, etc. I stay away from soybean oil, canola oil, sunflower oil, and similar oils.

Daily exercise. Sunlight whenever possible.

Supplements: Currently? None. Supplements that have helped in the past (and I can personally recommend) are fish oil, zinc, apple cider vinegar, Vitamin D.

Can you give us a run down on what you would eat in a normal day on this diet.

I usually eat carrots, which I dip into homemade houmous (http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/2029/homemade-houmous) although I think the ready made type will do fine. You can make a bigger batch and keep it in the fridge.

Carrots are very good because of the beta-carotene and fiber.

I eat whatever vegetables I have lying around with this, they have to be raw. Although broccoli could be lightly steamed to soften it. And onions could be lightly grilled to sweeten them.

I dont know much about beans, I eat different kinds every day mostly for the protein. Chick peas, pinto beans, kidney beans, you name it. Although stay away from soy beans, they are known to cause allergic reactions in some people which may lead to acne.

As for nuts and seeds, I eat a little of everything but there is one which stands out: SUNFLOWER SEEDS! They are very very very cheap and nutritious. They are packed with vitamin b5, vitamin e, and omega 6 which are vital to healthy skin.

As far as fruits go, I try to stay away from the ones high in sugar such as bananas. Besides that any fruit will do fine. I dont just stick to one type of fruit.

I also take as a supplement omega 3 fish liver oil capsules. And drink plenty and plenty of water, your urine should not be yellow at any time. Green tea has also been known to be good for the skin.

I was getting desperate and decided to cut out all high GI foods, dairy products, most carbohydrates and sugars, and I havent looked back since. As rakbs said, rice is a good source of carbohydrates if you start to feel weak and tired. I will slowly begin adding things back into my diet, and hopefully smoke out the culprit.

I believe this diet targets both the inside and out, it cleanses speeds up the healing and cleans the digestive system to prevent new blemishes. It takes a little self-discipline but for me it has worked wonders, I had moderate/severe acne from a neutral point of view, painful nodules forming deep under the skin. And no new ones have formed after starting this, and the existing ones are calming down at an incredible rate.

You need to have complete protein sources. Try adding brown rice with the beans.

Soy is. But..bleh.

Just compliment different sources, like I said, rice & beans is a good combo. It basically means that in order to provide your body with the essential and non-essential amino acids you need that you may have to consume different groupings of food, unless one food souce has all.

* Legumes with Grains
* Legumes with Nuts
* Legumes with Seeds
* Nuts/Seeds with Legumes
* Grains with Dairy
* Nuts/Seeds with Dairy
* Legumes with Dairy
* Dairy with Nuts/Seeds and Legumes

all work.

Dude seriously. Three days is nothing.

Complete protein sources are foods whose proteins contain all the amynoacids necessary for our organism. The food with the most complete proteins availabe is the protein in the egg yolk. Other than that, only whey protein is more complete.

Yeah I know 3 days is nothing, but all I was trying to do was to stop new breakouts. Which I have been getting every 1-2 days for the last 3 months. I hadnt been paying attention to my diet at all. Make that 4 days now biggrin.gif and still no new breakouts, so I am guessing its having some effect. Or then it may be the placebo effect... It works just because I believe it works. Either way is fine for me.

Your diet is very healthy, don't worry about it.

A complete protein source is a source of all 8 essential amino acids that the body needs. I think its 8... Complete protein sources are soybeans and hemp seeds. Since you aren't eating soy then you need to find another way to get all your protein or eat some hemp seeds. Overall its not THAT big a deal though if you're not getting all your protein in one day.

If you want some things like Zinc, B12, and other rarer harder to get nutrients I would recommend eating raw egg yolks. Start slowly, with a teaspoon of raw egg yolk mixed with a fork (protein in egg yolks get damaged easily so make sure its a fork you stir with and stir very lightly), then the next day or the day after the next eat a whole raw egg yolk, then 2 or 3 days later 2 egg yolks, on and on. I eat around 4-5 egg yolks a day, very healthy and makes you feel great. It provides pretty much everything you need its like taking a natural supplement. Mix it with your Orange Juice (hand squeezed), cant even taste it.

Make sure you test for freshness though, you can see how to do that on several sites obtained through google.

If you want Omega 3s eat walnuts. A handful provides 95%.

Thanks onelove, ill start with the egg yolks today. Raw egg yolks are fine but the raw egg whites get to me.. so I guess im lucky hehe. Thats what I also figured, about a week of not getting "complete" proteins cant be that bad. The beans and nuts have at least some protein. I wouldnt want to risk it with soy beans as my skin is clearing at an amazing pace. Another 2 weeks and I should be clear if it continues this way. Im on day 5, no new breakouts, and i havent slipped yet. I really cant say I look forwards to meals but hey, its worth it in my opinion. Today ill add brown rice and raw egg yolks. I very much doubt that either of them is going to do anything bad for my skin. brown rice, raw egg yolks.. whats next? biggrin.gif *prays for chocolate cake and icecream*

Still going strong, I havent given into any temptations. Ive been eating brown rice and egg yolks without consequences. Still no new whiteheads/cysts. I am very much starting to doubt this is a coincidence. Although today I decided to try something shifty, I ate multigrain bread, oats in the form of porridge, and two handfuls of all bran cereal without milk of course. Ive been reading that gluten is known to cause acne in some people. If this were the case for me, when could I expect the breakout?

I hope you'll keep reporting back. I am pretty sure that most grains worsen my acne. I've noticed it a lot more readily with wheat than rice though.

Grains dont seem to have done anything just yet. Although im still experimenting. I decided to start excercising frequently again and could not do without the extra carbs so I had to add them. I tried excercising but it didn't work well as I was too hungry. As an experiment, I ate a whole packet of of the fruit and fibre cereal today. AND DAMN IT TASTED GOOD!!! biggrin.gif I swear, nothing has ever tasted as good as it did. And.. now Im just waiting to see what my skin has to say about it biggrin.gif

So far, grains do not seem to be the cause of my acne, Ive been eating them all like crazy for the last 3 days.. yet no negative impact on my skin! Just about 2 very very small whiteheads, nothing like the type I used to get. Any recommendations on what I should try next?
