Fractional CO2 Laser with Platelet-rich Plasma

Compare To Other Treatments

Immediately after treatment:

  • Adding PRP to a fractional CO2 laser can help reduce the severity and occurrence of side effects. However, immediately after treatment, your skin will still be swollen with red dots in the locations that were treated with the laser and where PRP was injected.
  • You may be instructed to cover the treated areas with a moisturizing cream or ointment. Wound dressings are usually not necessary, but your doctor may recommend that you apply cold compresses for pain relief.

Days and weeks after treatment:

  • Your skin will continue to be red and swollen for 5-7 days after treatment. You may be advised to sleep with your head elevated to help with swelling.
  • Your doctor may advise using an antibiotic cream for 1 week after the treatment to prevent the development of infections.

Longer term:

  • There is usually no long-term recovery process after treatment with fractional CO2 laser and PRP.
  • It is important to use sunscreen and sun protection whenever the skin is exposed to the sun until the skin is completely healed, meaning that no pink, newly formed skin is visible anymore. This will take at least 1 month.
