I have noticed a large amount of posts pertaining to vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), with usually the same questions asked over and over agian. Therefore I have decided to make a thread with hopefully all the information someone would need to go on the supplement.

B5 is water-soluble, so it is impossible to overdose on it. It is very, very safe. I read that it might not be the best idea to take it while pregnant or breast feeding."

WRONG

You can OD on B5, trust me I know, it happened to me. I started out taking 2 grams, then slowly raised the dosage to reach 10 grams. It DESTROYED my liver, and it will do the same if you continue taking ANY supplements/Drugs at HIGH amounts in the long run.

Also B5 isnt a miracle cure, there are negative effects to it like you said - hair loss and of course liver damage.

You guys should never take one vitamin at high amounts, its just not safe. Its better to take a multi-vitamin instead.

B5 didn't work for me. Gave me loads of horrible whiteheads that I've never had before. So I'm going back to the tried and tested Botchla regime. Good luck to everyone on B5 though!

Haha John,...your hilarious!

I think just putting the powder on your tongue and then trying to swallow it with liquid would be much more entertaining.

Honestly, I cant see why it would.

I mean, either way its just going to be mixed in your stomach seconds later anyway.

So....probly easier mixing it.

Just dont do it with whisky.....or maaaaayyyybe eusa_think.gif

Johns a diehard.

I would actualy start with 1 gram for the first day

2 grams for the second day and so on up to the reckomended dosage of 10 grams.

This way you can gauge if you are having any adverse reactions to the product, back off a gram, or stay on the same dosgae for another day or two then proceed up again.

Hello. Ive had acne now for a few years. Ive tryed a few things, but am thinking of trying out vitamin B5. Ive looked through all these websites that have been posted. Are there any sites based and shipped from the UK that sell vitamin B5 that people know about? Its just with shipping from the US it is quite expensive.

Also, How big is different between products from sites such as B5clearskin.com and Vitamin B5 that comes from a normal store if any?

Thankyou for any replies.

I am not seeing Biotin on the ingredients list for evolution-x

Is that something I should probably take on the side?

Evolution-X lists Biotin as 60 mcg, or 20% of the daily value, whatever that means ...

meh...I think the need for other b-vitamin supplements is overblown (I never needed them myself - no side effects ever). However, I really don't want to start another flame war about it so eusa_hand.gif ....If you really want to play it safe just drop by Walmart and grab some 1000mcg Biotin tabs for a whopping $1.50!

Biotin is also water-soluble so don't worry about taking too much. I'm sure 3-4 tabs per day should be more than enough to counter the possibility of any B5-Biotin related side-effects.

My results with B5.....I've been taking b5 from b5supplements.com since the middle of April 2005 and blown about roughly 250 dollars. After my first few weeks I noticed my skin clearing up. I had some minor side effects like excessive shitting and gas and the odd stomach ache but thats about it. Well i contined on 20 pills per day and my skin had cleared up pretty well for the most part and all seemed to be going well until I didnt plan ahead to order a new shipment. So there was a weekend in the middle of June that I didnt take any b5 and I ended up running to the local GNC to get some b5 complex vitamins and pantothenic acid capsules to take until the next shipment came in. All in all I missed like 2 days. Well appearently from that experience my skin got completely messed up and broke out again. I'm back on a high dose of b5 again but it's not working the same. MY skin hasn't improved, I always feel tired, and I get sick often. I want to consult a doctor who is familiar with b5 about whether taking high doses of b5 is actually messing up my liver, because most doctors will automatically say yes just out of precaution because they are unfamiliar with anything other than the normal tetracycline and accutane. Normally, I would just stop taking b5 or lower my dosing but I'm afraid it will cause my skin to become even more messed up. So if you take b5 take it consistently and dont miss any.

I have been taking the Evolution-x for about 3 weeks now. I have read that many people see a reduction in oil within 4 days to about 2 weeks.

I am currently taking the 10g of B5 but I have not been lucky enough to get any reduction in oil eusa_wall.gif

Has anyone seen a reduction in oil happening after this mark? ie a month before a sudden reduction in oil?

Or should I increase my intake?

jg103:

It's actually not that uncommon for people to start seeing results after 1-2 months. It happened a lot faster for me (I was one of the 4 day people biggrin.gif ), but I've heard from a number of users here that they noticed results much later, so I wouldnt give up yet.

kevinnnn:

Personally, I'd start with at least 5g per day regardless of your acne severity (less if it's time-release). As for the other vitamins, I'm not sure as I never used anything else but a multivitamin.

i don't know anything about those B-complex formulations...just look at one of them and compare it to the ingredients on a multivitamin.

If you're seeing results, then you really don't need to change anything. Just stick with whatever dosage works for you. From reading the B5 reviews here you can tell that peope have had success with a wide range of dosages.
