i have rosacea and belong to a rosacea forum where vitamin d3 helps with the flushing. maybe your taking D2 instead...I just started two days ago and take 5 drops at 1000mgs each..I hope it controls my clogged pores but Im never hopeful
Wow, very strange... I'm taking the D3 (Cholecalciferol), drops formulation.
My brother (that is a doc) said that moderate flush is normal with this vitamin...
What kind of BRAND NAME are you taking?
I am desperate and no one knows how to help me. Ive been taking 5000 iu's of vitamin d and havent seen any results. Im taking a B5/B6 vitamin as well as just starting 10,0000 of vitamin a. Im so pluggged in the corners of my mouth and they are bulging just need to be expelled. Its like they werent there two days ago and now they're so clustered and need to be extracted. Theres hundreds of them...All white and pin sized. They seem like milia but I do exfoliate and thats what I thought you get milia from, not exfoliating. My overall texture is red and irritated and enflamed right now...I have been battling this two straight yrs and acne since im 13. What will slow the progression of these plugs and what am I lacking that my body doesnt shed properly and forms these. I cry all the time and feel hopeless because not one thing has ever worked.
Wicky are things better for you now. It is May 21. I hope so. How long have you been taking the above.

Also Wicky I have a topical vitamin A derivative that I place on my chin together my vitamins. You have to get it from the derm as a pharmacist has to mix it. It is 2% cllindamycin 38.7% ethyl alcohol. This product does not dry out my chin nor make it red. Hope this helps. I know how you feel. I did have a small pimple pop up but using the topical together with the vitamins, it disappeared in two days, it was not painful nor was it big. Vanished. Hope this helps.
dakota, im in a bad bad place. Im taking Bluebonnet Vitamin D3 drops that are from Cholecalciferol and its given me such a bad flushed face..I also went for extractions at the derms office for one area in my chin that was bad and she made it worse than ever. She tried to do too many and ended up not getting some so they are a gunky uncoverable mess with the plug still in there...the whole area from my right corner of my mouth down is a raw picked mess with white things stuck in there..Is raw and open looking and i have to go to a barbeque today...im so upset i dont know what to do anymore
dakota can you be more specific about this clindamycin? I have clindamycin phosphate is that the same thing? I've never heard of it being a vitamin. Also, I just read somewhere that some D3 supplements like the kind Im taking can induce flushing? Ive been very red this week since starting. Can you provide me an actual link to the D3 you are taking as Im having trouble locating the exact one you are taking with the Omega 3's in it..Also what brand of b complex are you taking? Thanks

I have the same experience with the flush (see my post in the previous page of this topic).
Well, if vitamin D works for you, it's a side effect you can deal with...
I started with 1,000 IU, and had always red hot face! But after 2 weeks this side effect diminuished, almost disappeared... So raised up to 2000IU, still hot red face, keeping on this dosage for like 20 days and then the flush went almost away.
Now I'm on 3000IU, same course... At the beginning hot flush, but it's going down and I'm so much clearer!
I'm gonna to stay on this dosage or at least 4000IU/daily, it's a very safe dose. I told with my brother (he's a doc) and said to me that the flush IT's not dangerous at all, vitamin d raise up the skin temperature, and a flush from vit D is common.
So, my advise is to TRY for a couple of week with 1000IU and see what happen...

When I did all the research and found that Vitamin A was a big part in acne as well as B6 and Vitamin D, I researched the ocutane and other forms of the same and found that it is a vitamin A derivative. Since my doctors would not give me minocycline anymore I asked for acutane. They wouldn't give me that either because of the fatty liver etc. mino and possibly ocutane would and has done. But what they did do was give me a topical. My pharmacist told me that the clindamycin had the vitamin A in it that I wanted. I don't know if it is clindamycin phosphate as mine is a liquid form with a sphongey thing on top of the bottle. Years ago I had a tube of the clindamycin which did absolutely nothing. The reason I like what I have right now is that it does not dry out my skin and it doesnot get red. The pharm had to mix it. Go to your derm and get them to mix a 2% clindmycin mix and (38.7% Ethyl Alcohol). It also has on the bottle Dilusol Lotion. That is all I can get from it. As far as the vitamin B complex liquid form, I get it from Amazon Trading, just google it. I get the vitamin B Complex and the Calcium Magnesium Liquid form from Amazon trading. I read somewhere that niacin can cause flushing. I do not have any side effects from what I am using just that I feel great. The vitamin D3 I get from superstore. It is a liquid form and it is great, maybe from what I have been reading it may be better that just trying to get a single drop. Mine is easy peasy as you use a dropper. I also have vitamin a vitamin D3 from iHerb that I will be trying for the first time when I run out of what I have. It has a higher dosage but easy to measure what you need to get whatever IUs. It is Country Life, Liquid Vitamin D3. Also buy a bottle with an dropper so that you can measure what you want as there is 5000 iu in a tablespoon. I will take 1 teaspoon. I just using the dropper. Buy Country Life vitamin D3 from iHerb. Also Natural Factors Vitamin A. I sure hope this helps. iHerb is a reasonble price for everything. I also get Omega 3 from there. Good luck. Hopefully, the topical clin will help you too. Expect to notice changes within 5 days. Let me know. If you cannot get Amazon Trading vitamins, I will try to work something out with you as I want you to have the relief and feeling great and acne free now for over 8 weeks. Fingers crossed.

I have just opened D3 from Country Life 5000 IU taking 2000 to 2500. If you like cherry you will like it but it is overpowering. I prefer orange so I may try a product on iherb Carlson product omega 3, vitamin A and D3 all in one, orange flavor. Maybe a good idea. I should just leave everything the way it is as everything I'm using is so good but I'm always trying for better. Otherwise I will keep what I have been doing and get my D3 from superstore because it has no taste.
I tried Vitamin D for 10 days or so and it did nothing for my breakouts. I was still having breakouts and my oily skin persisted. I live in Sunny Singapore where there is sunshine 24/7, and I doubt Vitamin D supplementation would result in your acne to stop. Just a personal experience with Vit D Softgel supplementation. I took 9000IU daily.
Acne is caused by different things for different people, so no vitamin d wouldnt work for everyone- especially not those with good amounts of sunshine.
But for those who don't see a lot of sun, or who live quite far north, it could be a piece of the puzzle for sure. Anything your body is lacking could cause your hormones to go out of whack.
As a side note: living somewhere where we've had 5 straight weeks of fog and rain, after 9 months of regular winter, I decided to try vitamin d3. Moreso for overall health benefits, but if it does help with my spots at all I'll report back.

Well ive been taking vitamin d3 at levels between 5000-7500 IU and i cant say that ive seen much difference in my skin either i'm sad to say. Also my stomach has been really bad lately and i'm wondering if the vitamin d3 is causing it. I will continue on it until i use the liquid bottle up but as for an acne cure.... my search goes on i think (

To me, that is your problem. Try liquid form.
Just to let everyone know- Im trying this, for health reasons moreso, but I will report back if I notice a change in my acne. I'm going to give it like 2 months though before a rule out if it has an effect in acne or not. If your body is truly vitamin D deficient it's not likely it's going to correct the levels in 5, 10, 20, even 30 days.
So we will see!
I honestly don't think there is any difference between liquid and softgel... What's inside the softgel is equivalent to what your getting from the liquid.
If D vitamin was to work, it WOULD have, considering that I took it at such a high dosage. Nonetheless, I'm going to up my dosage to 20,000 IU and see what happens until my bottle runs out.

Sure, it's the same thing, but liquid form is easily absorbed and it's less irritating for your stomach.

Wrong. If the VitaminD3 works for you, it also do the job at low dosage. I started to cleared up at 1000IU/daily (I had severe adult acne, 2 course of Accutane and other shits...), now i stay on 3000IU/daily. 90% clear.
You can raise the dosage up to 4000-5000IU daily, without doing any blood test or docotor supervision.
But over 5000IU you have to get your blood test every 3-4 months, there's a risk of hypercalcemia!
Still no sunshine here
I started on 1000 IU on May 28, went up 1000 IU each day until I got to 4,000 IU which is where I am now. It hasn't even been a week, so this is just an update and should be taken with a grain of salt but this is the first time in months that I haven't felt exhausted (the past 3 days) and in the past 3 days I haven't had one new pimple either. I usually get a new one everyday (at least) but who knows! I'm definitely keeping my fingers crossed

Isn't vitamin D3 amazing. I take 2000 to 2500 IU's a day together with other vitamins. I have been clear for 9 weeks. I am still keeping my fingers crossed but ohhhhh it's so nice not having to take prescribed minocycline which has so many bad side effects and life altering because of the dose. Hope it continues to work for you. I know my life is happy happy happpy.
It really is! I'm making my husband take it after some of the research I've done.
Things are still looking good for me, but it's still SO early. Mustn't get hopes up yet! I feel like if I've been clear (or better even) for 1 month then comes the celebrations BUT I did notice that my skin had a nice glow to it and my cheeks were rosy (without makeup!) yesterday. I seriously am always so pale that people think I'm sick if I dont have makeup on soooo whatevers happening I'm loving it.

Me too, I feel I look 15 years younger. I take all liquid form for the absorption and I'm lovin life. Can't hardly believe that for bad acne problems I have suffered for 15 years and today it was something lacking on the inside, vitamins and minerals. Ohhhhh so happy. I also have my husband on vitamin D and others just for the health benefit. Good luck. Fingers are crossed.
It's still going good for me! This is the longest I've gone without getting a new zit since I came off birth control. I think I'll get the liquid form next time. I'm using the gel caps now, but when they're used up I'll go for the liquid!
Just wish it'd get sunny here so I could get some bonus vitamin d to start building up my stores and warm me up a bit! I really think anyone who has acne who lives in a part of the world that isn't super sunny or works inside during the day should consider trying vitamin d3 along with a good, low carb diet, good sleep, and a healthy lifestyle! It may not work for everyone, but I bet there are a lot of people it would help.
I've been taking 20,000 IU for a week now and I'm STILL breaking out badly. I'm going to get the liquid form and that's going to be my last try. I can't believe I fell for another vitamin cure again. Btw, do you guys clear 100%? or it just helps? I honestly don't think it helped me at all. I'm so desperate.
lllhhk,
You said you live in Singapore and it's very sunny there, correct? What made you think you may be vitamin D3 deficient in the first place?
There is no ONE cure for acne, it's about having a healthy body and lifestyle. If you're deficient in a certain vitamin then taking that supplement should certainly help, but only if you're deficient.
You may be deficient in something else, but since you live somewhere sunny I'd make the assumption that you already got enoguh vitamin d3 naturally from the sun and therefore of course taking it by supplement wouldn't help.
You cant just take one supplement and have it clear your face up. You have to have a very healthy diet and lifestyle and get 99% of your vitamins naturally by food. Only take a supplement in something you're truly deficient in, otherwise it could do more harm than good.
For me it's only helped, because I havent been taking it long enough for it to be possible to actually clear my face completely. It's only been a week taking it and I am only taking 4000 IU per day. And we have no sun here so I'm getting nothing naturally. I haven't gotten a new pimple since the day after I started it. See my log in my signature for details.

Be smart, try liquid for the absorption. Be careful of the amount. 20 000 seems a little excessive unless a doctor has prescribed. I take 2500 plus other vitamins which I have listed in previous posts. Vitamin D3 was the last vitamin I added to my regimen and when I did it completely knocked out my problem. My chin cleared up 100%. To me, I agree with greeneyes, you have to fix the lack on the inside of your body. Vitamin A 10 000 softgel, Vitamin B Complex liquid form and Vitamin D3 liquid form have all, 100% fixed my problem.
