hello,,, Just giving an update... I tried the niacin flush kind 500mg for about 10 days. I definitely saw good results. I then read post that people were having better success with the non-flush kind. I would rather not flush anyway so I've been on the Non Flush 500mg Solgar brand for the last 5 days with unbelievable results.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it continues to work, I would suggest this to anyone willing to spend 20 bucks on a bottle. Hell, it's worth a shot even a couple days of being clear is worth 15 or 20 dollars.

I ordered the same brand a few days ago. The bottle cost $16 and express shipping cost $35 :D I don't like to wait! I do hope it makes past the customs. Will keep everyone updates.

I have been taking IHN For about 3 weeks now. It was working great for the first 1.5 weeks but I got a massive breakout the other day. I am not sure if it was because I ate a huge amount of sugary junk food the night before or not. I am going to stick it out for a little while more and ill update about any progress.

Has anyone every been prescribed nicotinamide or nicomide by their derm? Its a vitamin /mineral combination. I would like to know if this worked for anyone?

I still try and eat well, a low GI diet. No sugars, no complex carbs, no bad oils (only coconut and extra virgin olive oil. Mainly just Good Fats (from meats), and vegetables.

I don't want to be brazen with my new found clearness, I want to still attack the acne with different weapons. Diet I still think is very related. The IHN is just a valuable weapon. Hope it continues more than just a week and a half.

I have been looking into eating a low GI diet. I gave up milk and some other dairy a few months ago and it cut down my cysts by 50% but stil a long ways to go. I already eat healthy (no preservatives, surplus of fruits and veggies, lean meats, etc. ) but I slipped the othr day and now I am paying for it. I have realized that my diet does contain a lot of carbs and not always whole grain so I think I may try this low GI diet. How does it work for you?

I AM 100% CLEAR FROM TAKING NIACIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have tried everything and i mean everything and have never had results like this after struggling with adult acne the past 5 years.... i am now 24, turning 25 next month...

i have been taking 5 100 mg pills (500 mg total dosage once a day) with my largest meal, of straight up NIACIN that causes massive flushes when not eaten with a big meal

amazing results, 100% clear, and onlt like 2 small red marks left which seem to be healing fast...

i still get the clogged pore every once in a while, but no pus filled zits or cysts any more!!!!!

and i have been eating shitty food in at least one meal a day to (the other meals generally strict and following a candida diet)!

like yesterday i ate a whole medium deep dish pizza from BJ's in one sitting! and guess what, the next day, no break outs!

today i ate 6 chocolate peanut butter homemade cookies and my face didnt even get greasy from it and no breakouts yet!

niacin is pretty frickin amazing, never had results this good from anything... EVER!

i noticed my results getting the best once i started taking the FLUSH kind of just straight up niacin, in its most basic form

the other kinds didnt seem to work as good...

anyone know if there are any side effects of taking 500 mg of FLUSH niacin every day over long periods of time????

Hey Chultzy

I am doing the anti candida diet. You might have heard of it. But if you were ever on anti biotics for an extended period of time you could have a build up of yeast which feeds candida (Making acne worse) It also supposedly takes a while to get rid of it, the longer you were on anti biotics, considering I was on them for about 10 years I have to do this diet for about 3-4 years to return to normal. I will say this though, after about 6 weeks on the diet my cystic acne was not as bad. It was still there but it didn't last as long or as swollen.

But ever since "The Miracle IHN" I've been clear.... I finally had the guts to stop Tetra, this will be 3rd day.

I'll try and answer any questions about the anti candida thing, But if you google search Bee's and candida you'll find the anti candida diet.

I read on here that the time release is bad, then I read that people use the time release. Anyone know? I bought the no-flush and just realized it is time released, should I return and get the regular no-flush or is this ok?

I took the first pill Sunday night, so its been less than 48 hours but I'm surprised by the improvement. No new cysts have formed on my face, I've pretty much only gotten a couple small whiteheads since I started but thats so minor for me.

I'll have to wait and see, I don't want to get my hopes up too much.

Enom,,,

I would return it and get the regular no flush inositol hexanicotinate niacin. Start off with 500mg. It is said to be safer then the time released kind.

I'm going to look for the inositol type at walgreens later, and update in a few days.

So inositol hexanicotinate is labeled as Niacin Flush-Free, which is not the same as Niacinamide?

Correct. Flush-free niacin and niacinamide are not the same thing.

I didn't realize there were three types of niacin, two of which are considered "flush free." For some reason, I thought the inositol was added to niacinamide, but that's not the case. They are different forms completely!

I cleared from the inositol kind. It's really cheap at wal-mart, for anyone who would like to try it. It's only $5 or $6 for a 60 day supply! I don't see any difference between that and the $20 or $30 kind I saw online. If the flush kind or niacinamide isn't working well, it's worth a shot!

Do you guys also take B complex? I think the other B vitamins are needed for niacin to work properly.

Three forms of niacin exist, immediate-release (IR), sustained-release/long-acting (SR/LA), and extended-release (ER). Regular "Flush" niacin is immediate-release and that's why it causes the flushing because the niacin is released all at once. The timed release form is long-acting and it gradually releases niacin over a period of time. The "No Flush" inositol hexanicotinate is extended-release and it appears to be metabolised slowly, not reaching maximum serum levels of nicotinic acid until approximately 6-10 hours after ingestion.

And although some label niacinamide as "No Flush" niacin it is actually the product of what niacin is converted into by the body so it's properties are different and it doesn't have the same effects as taking niacin itself.

The timed release or sustained-release/long-acting form of niacin is the one you want to avoid because of it's increase chances of liver toxicity.

I did some research on Niacin and found some interesting things. I still don't know why it's working I just hope it continues. The last thing I found about Guggul, something I never heard of, or tried,,,,but it says people had more success with that then Tetracycline for cycstic acne. CRAZY,,, and it does the same thing as Niacin=Lowers Triglycerides,,, maybe us acne prone people have high Triglycerides? Who knows

Immune System

Niacin may reduce the mortality rate of Cancer patients and may help to prevent some forms of Cancer:i

- Niacin may reduce the rate of recurrence of Bladder Cancer in people treated with Gamma-Rays in Radiation Therapy.i

- Niacin may help to prevent Endometrial Cancer.i

Niacin may inhibit the ability of Candida glabrata to cause Urinary Tract Infections (by inhibiting the ability of Candida glabrata to adhere to the epithelial cells of the Urinary Tract).i

niacin

[nAaEsin]

a white, crystalline, water-soluble vitamin of the B complex, usually occurring in various plant and animal tissues as nicotinamide. It functions as a coenzyme necessary for the breakdown and use of all major nutrients and is essential for a healthy skin, normal functioning of the GI tract, maintenance of the nervous system, and synthesis of the sex hormones.

Niacin Plusa contains a non-flushing form of niacin, inositol hexanicotinate, consisting of six molecules niacin bound to an inositol molecule. As your body metabolizes this form of niacin it is slowly released which significantly minimizes any flushing while assisting in the healthy metabolism of HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides.

One small clinical trial found that guggul (Commiphora mukul) compared favorably to tetracycline in the treatment of cystic acne.8 The amount of guggul extract taken in the trial was 500 mg twice per day.

Guggul contains resin, volatile oils, and gum. The extract isolates ketonic steroid compounds known as guggulsterones. These compounds have been shown to provide the cholesterol- and triglyceride-lowering actions noted for guggul.1 Guggul significantly lowers serum triglycerides and cholesterol as well as LDL and VLDL cholesterols (the aoebada cholesterols).2 At the same time, it raises levels of HDL cholesterol (the aoegooda cholesterol). As antioxidants, guggulsterones keep LDL cholesterol from oxidizing, an action which protects against atherosclerosis.3 Guggul has also been shown to reduce the stickiness of plateletsaanother effect that lowers the risk of coronary artery disease.4 One double-blind trial found guggul extract similar to the drug clofibrate for lowering cholesterol levels.5 Other clinical trials in India (using 1,500 mg of extract per day) have confirmed guggul extracts improve lipid levels in humans.6

I just got some Niacin today ^_^

I'm getting pretty dang good results from UT*, but I feel like I could be doing more internally. I'm also going to be doing some diet changes, as in-

-More veggies

-Less everything else

Took my first pill today (and a garlic pill, even though some say those are useless ) and I guess we'll see how it works out.

*If you don't know what it is, don't ask, and if you do, don't hate. :D

I've been taking one 500mg of no-flush inositol a day for the last 3 weeks and I see improvements. I still break out but it is less frequent and they are much smaller.
