Best Way To Determine Which Foods Cause Acne?

I am still trying to figure out which food is causing my acne. It is primarily on my shoulders and back (if that is of any help). I do get it on face as well, but body is the worst..

I have tried the following diet: veggies, fruits (minus bananas, oranges, mainly ate berries), with meat (typically grass fed beef, free range chicken breast), with lots of ghee (clarified butter, grass fed) and coconut oil (also extra virgin olive oil, first cold pressed), yet I still was unable to get clear. I also noticed that I could barely function on this diet, and I was always stressed.

What is the best foundation (i.e. safest foods) to begin with to find foods that cause breakouts?

Please stop before you get an eating disorder, and if you already have one get help. You cannot control your acne by excluding certain foods. I can totally understand the desire to control it this way, and I tried it myself when I thought I had tried everything else but it does not help and it does harm. I don't have the energy to get into another debate about this but this is my educated opinion, you have been warned.

Hey flaxen, thanks for the response. Unfortunately, I have already gone that route (avoiding a ton of food, i avoided all grains, avoided all dairy, avoided most nuts, and ate basically just veggies, fruits, healthy fats and meat).

If you don't mind me asking, how exactly did it do harm to you? I would appreciate it, if you can go into detail!

You need to have a serious rethink about what you are doing. You will cause yourself to have an eating disorder.

While you have made some positive changes, i.e eating more veg, fats and lean meats. If it is stressing you out then this could be casuing your acne. Stress cause all sorts of hormonal hell in the body which can lead to acne.

Have your sort professional help with your skin and nutrition? You seem to be patching together generic things a lot of people post in here. Diet is individual.

Did your acne change at all on this diet? Do you have a lot of allergies or digestion issues? How long have you followed this diet? What do you drink? How do you sleep?

Some people have problems with fats so the lots of fats could be a problem. There are things you can do to improve this, though.

And like the others said, if you can't adjust your diet without stressing about it, you shouldn't do it. To that extent anyway.

But, you can find the list of very hypoallergenic foods, which also happens to be mostly good, nutrient dense foods, and stick to that for a bit before gradually adding foods back in.

I am not even sure if i have digestion issues or allergies. I mean sometimes my stools are t perfect.. I do get stuffy nose quite oftrn, but so does my dad and bro. Also, maybe my vitamin d levels are low. Would getting a blood test by my gp determine adequatly determine if i am sufficient in vitamin d?

Fats/red meat are hard to digest and too much dairy can cause constipation. Some people also find relief from eliminating refined sugar. Other than that I think you should eat everything.

so dont eat fats/red meat and too much dairy.. So basically grains (which ironically is supposedly the worst for acne?)

Also, when you say fats, i am assuming nuts counts as well?

Unless you know for sure fats and red meats cause your acne then keep eating them,

Red meat is loaded with essential nutrients and as for fat WE NEED FAT FOR HEALTH. Don't skimp on fat. The fats you need to avoid are trans fats.
