Hello there, i'm looking for some tips/guidance. I've been taking 500mg B5 / Pantothenic Acid for about 3 months now with amazing results and no side effects. I very rarely get any spots anymore (if I do its because my diet/alcohol consumption had a bad spike and even then it'll be 1 or 2 tiny ones). Just wish I'd discovered it about 15 years ago :). Anyway do I keep taking 500mg daily forever? Should I now try moving to a lower dosage? Or do i stop altogether until my skin starts playing up (would really rather not do that..)?
This is a good question. I ChatGPTed it. Here's the link: https://chat.openai.com/share/92d7a0c3-89bc-47b5-8356-376ddc93163d
However, are you certain it's from the B5? There's very little research behind it, so I'm surprised to hear someone saying it's working so well.
Hm interesting ChatGPT response, I think I'll try dropping down to 250mg and see how it goes for 3 months or so. Yep I am 100% certain it's the B5. I did originally start with a combo of B5, Zinc (50mg) and cod liver oil but I didn't tolerate zinc well at all (even after dropping the dosage to 12.5mg) and ended up dropping it early. Yet the acne kept on reducing, then I stopped the cod liver oil and it still kept on reducing still till I am now currently spot free. Honestly nothing had ever really worked for me so completely until taking B5. Not sure if I'm allowed to link Youtube videos here but the core reason I even tried that original combo of supplements in the first place was because of one particular video from a guy called Dr Eric Berg.
You can link youtube videos as long as you're not trying to promote something, so yeah, feel free to link it.
This is pretty interesting. I'm glad you're cleared up.
Also, what do you mean that you couldn't tolerate zinc? Nausea? If it was that, I think that happens to everyone. You have to take it on an empty stomach.
Sure yeah so it was this particular video where he goes into heavy detail about androgens and the sebaceous glands: .
Yep the zinc issue was nausea, I usually took it with meals but I did try empty stomach and I found both were intolerable for me. I feel like I get plenty of zinc from my diet anyway I think as I do eat red meat, oats, eggs, salmon, cheese, milk etc
I'm now on 250mg B5 btw and did have a few tiny spots appear a few days after switching from 500mg that cleared up quickly but no new ones for a week or so now, so it seems to be holding steady at this dose. Still need another couple of months of it to be sure though.
