Hey guys! I wanted some input about using baking soda on entire body/face.

I used it on my face twice a day, made a thick paste and used it in the shower on my back and arms ect...

It was going really well the first couple of days. And then about a week in, I started to break out A LOT. Everywhere. More than usual. I'm wondering if it takes a while for this stuff to work its magic or if it's just irritating my skin to no end. I had to stop using it because my acne was inflamed and red. Should I also use a basic face and body wash with the baking soda? I'm wondering if it wasn't enough to clean my face? Any advice would help! I'm trying any and all home remedies I can find that have a moderate success rate. After that, I'm moving on to changing my diet! Anyways, thanks!

I have never used baking soda at all, I have thought about trying it though. I thought it was supposed to combat the redness?

I thought it would combat redness too. I'm wondering if I gave up too quickly with it...

Hey I might have a solution for you! Well I'm just about to start using baking soda today :D Anyway, I did a lot of research on it for the last couple of days, and all the success stories say that they used baking soda twice or three times a week! You're doing well making it into a thick paste but just make sure you don't overdo it.

Hope this helps :)

p.s. For me, I'm gonna start using it once a week just to see how my body copes with baking soda and gradually increase the frequency - like the regimen! haha.

Thanks for the tip! I was using it once a day so that may explain my skin's reaction! I'll give it a try!

You should use a basic wash before the baking soda. If you don't then you could be scrubbing some of the dirt and oil into your pores with the baking soda. Which is probably why you had worse break outs after a week or so.
