Hey guys,
Just wanted to tell my experience from accutane. I took low dose accutane about 5 years straight and while I was on it I had no oily skin and no acne. Once I stopped taking it the oily skin returned and acne plus now I have bone tumor at the base of my skull with pretty horrible symptoms from it. I'm not sure if the tumor is from accutane but it can cause bone overgrowth and deformity. So that's my experience with accutane, hopefully I will get to surgery and survive from it and can return to work and normal life..
hey, ive always heard of some serious side effects from accutane but never a bone tumor. i'm really not surprised because the drug is so dangerous. if its serious stay away from hospital drugs and read up about the importance of diet because your food is your medicine. best of luck to you
i think theres always going to be that tendency to blame any post-accutane health problems on the accutane when theres the likelihood you probably would have gotten those problems had you never taken the course anyway. I guess you'll never know, but good luck with the surgery i hope you make a quick recovery

I'm not really blaming accutane. It might have something to do with it or not, it is impossible to say. If I could live my life over again I would definitely never touch accutane. All I can hope now is that I can get second chance in life..
how low of a dose were you on daily for the 5 years? and I assume a doctor was doing bloodwork all along right?
and yes our thoughts are with you for a full and speedy recovery
I took 20mg three times a week only. This kept all the oil away and that way no acne. It is weird how the oil returned after stopping accutane but dry lips, eyes and mouth never fully healed. It's been about three or four years after I took my last accutane capsule. And no bloodwork was done, ever.
Did they think a connection with the dry eyes, mouth and skin with the bone tumor ? Sometimes there can be a link and yes Accutane can cause a overgrowth of bone in any part of the body. It even states that in the rx information and has always been known since it came on the market the profound effects on the bones. 5yrs is a long time even at 20mgs and it is NOT suggested to take it long term like that.
Good Luck and wishing you a speedy recovery

I have first appointment to the neurosurgeon next week. Haven't really talked about that tumor issue yet with any doctor, just recently got results from MRI and CT scans showing the tumor. And then my doctor called me and gave me appointment to neurosurgeon. I'm not gonna even say about my suspicions about accutane to the surgeon, what does it matter now, this is the situation now and I just have to deal with it. But one thing is sure, I will never gonna take accutane again and if I ever have children, I be damn sure that they don't either.
