I have been on doxycycline for 3 months now and my skin has become pretty much 95% clear.
I was also on birth control for a month, which was a very bad experience but now i'm unsure as to which medication has helped my acne. I was on doxycycline a few years ago when I'd just started breaking out and I didn't get any help from it at all, which is what made me wonder.
But say the doxycycline is whats helping, when I stop it will my acne just completely return? I never had terrible acne, just mild, which is why I've figured any side effects from accutane aren't worth it. So will it return? Or by having doxycylcine would my acne have run it's course?
Well, it is difficult to tell really, either way you can't stay on antibiotics for too long so you will have to stop. If it does return, then you doctor will go from there. Birth control works wonders for women with hormonal acne. Since it is mild acne, you could possibly use topical antibiotics.
