Starting this log a little late - I am on day 41. My dermatologist prescribed regimen is epiduo at night, clindamycin cream in the morning and 50mg zinc daily. My acne background is started getting acne at 14, I am 31 now. Had 2 courses of roaccutane in my late teens, since then used acne.org regimen basically for the last 11 years. Wanted to try something else as sick of my clothes being bleached, the time it takes etc.
I was about 97% clear when I went to my derm. I am hoping this will work as well as the acne.org regimen, which worked brilliantly for me, but the side effects and time consumption have become a problem.
Day 25
Forehead - nothing of note
Chin - nothing of note
Left side of face - above left moustache, about 2 weeks old, was inflamed spot now healing; two new small non-inflamed on cheek, upper cheek - came up both in the last 2 days. 1 still healing on temple. Have eaten a lot of pizza, chocolate in last few days
Right side of face - 1 new pimple coming up on cheek. I dormant whitehead whitehead on upper cheek. 1 inflamed pimple healing on right sideburn/jawline
Day 41
Forehead - couple small pimples
Chin - nothing of note
Left side of face - above left moustache, small red mark now - can't tell if it is scarring. Bottom left part of moustache - inflamed spot drying up and going away - still red. The two new small non-inflamed on cheek have come and gone. 1 new inflamed spot on upper cheek. Near sideburn and eye - 2 small slightly inflamed blemishes. 1 of them has lingered for a while and then tends to disappear
Right side of face - 1 new pimple coming up on cheek. The previous one from day 25 has disappeared but I have a new one. The dormant whitehead on upper cheek is slightly smaller. 1 inflamed pimple healing on right sideburn/jawline is now smaller/small red mark. Can't tell if it is leaving indented scar or not. Small spot on right temple.
I have some other really tiny spots that are not worth mentioning, especially on my nose which is oily.
Overall my skin is pretty good. I haven't really had an initial breakout or anything. I do have more acne than I am used to on the acne.org regimen. I am hoping my pores are being cleaned out and this will improve.
Day 79 - 18th July
The two inflamed pimples above my left moustache are both pretty flat and red marks now - not sure if they will heal without scarring. I have a couple of small, slightly inflamed type pimples on my right cheek/upper cheek. Forehead and above lip clear. 1 small inflamed pimple on upper left cheek, 1 similar on left jawline below (very small). Nose has lots of tiny inflamed and non-inflamed spots - might try something else like retin a or salicylic acid on my nose. I clogged pore near right sideburn looks to be forming a pimples. My chin looks clogged but doesn't really progress to pimples often.
In the 79 days of this regimen so far, my acne has remained mild. I am not getting any really big inflamed pimples, but I am still getting some, particularly in my problem areas (cheeks, jawline). The smaller ones go away in a couple of weeks. The larger ones are leaving hyperpigmentation and possibly shallow indents.
I'm hoping for continued improvement, as although this regimen has worked well, as yet it has not kept me as clear as Dan's Regimen did.
Day 80 - 19th July
Pimple on right cheek slightly bigger. The one on my upper cheek fell out. Left side still have the two slightly inflamed spots - one on upper cheek, one below it near beardline.
Have gotten seriously depressed about my skin this week. It's not bad but I want it better. I am almost 32, can't stand still worrying about my skin, getting scars indefinitely.
Day 100 - 8th August
Skin is about the same. I am getting the occasional pimple, they are taking a long time to heal up and I can't tell if they are scarring or not. Saw my derm last week, he was happy with progress and didn't think I was scarring. Not sure about this routine I am concerned about becoming resistant to the clindamycin. My derm thinks the BP in the epiduo will prevent this happening, but I'm not so sure. After all people become resistant to duac and that's 5% BP plus antibiotic.
