Mildly Indented Scars. Will They Fade? (Pics Included)

Hey everyone,

Ok so I'm 18 years old and up until my 18th birthday I pretty much had perfect skin. Then I turned 18, started getting spots. I decided to go on Dianette and I know it works for a lot of people, but I had a really bad initial breakout of inflammatory acne and after 6 months my acne still hadn't subsided. So I decided to come off Dianette and now I use Duac to keep my acne under control.

My acne has improved, I only have a couple of inflamed pimples and then it's just small whiteheads and blackheads. But I have really red scars from my big inflammatory breakout. I know that's just hyperpigmentation and will fade given time. But unfortunately I picked my spots quite badly and now I'm starting to see that my scars aren't completely flat and are slightly indented. I know a lot of people have scars much worse than mine, but I was wondering if these indents will fill in over time since they aren't too deep and I guess I'm still relatively young.

The pics are just of one cheek, but I've got the same on the other cheek too. I also feel like my pores are really enlarged and I just hate the texture of my skin right now. My skin is my biggest insecurity and I just want clear skin again.

I'm willing to wait and let time heal. I know the redness will subside, but do you reckon the indents will? And if not, what treatment would you recommend? And how long should I wait before getting any treatment?

Thank you for reading my post xx

Hey. I have read that Dianette can cause sebaceous glands to clog and become infected and therefore cause acne. So it's good that you stopped taking Dianette. The Duac should help your acne, but I would see a dermatologist and ask what to do about the scaring. I do know that over time small scars like yours will fade. There are certain topical gels that will help the healing over time as well.

I would leave them as. Don't look to bad and you wouldn't want to make them worse.

I would like to know what people think also as my skin looks very much like this.

I expect that when the hyperpigmentation clears they'll look much better.

I only really notice mine in harsh overhead lighting but it is enough to make my feel very self-conscious even in normal natural daylight.

My texture is also really crap because I have quite a few clogged pores which makes my skin look shocking!

Have you noticed whether make-up fills in the dents at all?

Could it be that they are not actuallu indented at all, and that it is an optical illusion caused by the contrasting red and white skin and the enlarged pores/ inflammation?
