I'm new to this guys so I hope I'm posting this in the right place, and if I'm not I'm so sorry!
I'm looking for any & all recommendations from those who've had good scar treatment results from doctors in NY or surrounding areas.
After much research, I think the best bet for my deep boxcar scars is subscision and/or excision followed by fillers. I'm not opposed to looking at other things. But does anyone know of doctors who do this in the tri state area (ny, nj, ct).
As a side question, should I consult dermatologists or surgeons about this? Something tells me surgeons, but I open to any doc recommendations who specialize in acne scar treatments. Thanks!
Ps I don't know if y'all need pics to answer this but adding in case.
And I will post before/after pics when I do start the process!!! Love looking at those here. 
Have you considered posting on realself to get some doctor's opinions? Might even get a response from a doctor in your area.
Tough to say what the best treatment for you would be. I dont think it is necessary to restrict your search to just surgeons unless you do decide on excision, even then the most important thing is finding someone who specializes in acne scars and performs the treatment you choose often.
I dont mean to be that guy, but your scarring really isnt that bad, but it can be improved.
I think the best doctors in NYC are Dr. Lee Novick, and Dr. Yang. I think I might make a 2 and a half hour trip to see Novick early next year. His answers on realself are always great and hes been treating acne scars since the early 90s.

I'm gonna try and book an appt with Novick to see what he recommends and see any before afters he can show me.
And by all means, be that guy! After hearing doctor responses saying "you have more than the three scars you're asking about, you have many and they'll be very hard to treat but you might be able to achieve some improvement" I can use some more that guyness. I didn't post pics of all the scars, just the one that really bothers me. Here's all

its been a big sore point in my life that I just wish I could do something about. I don't care about shallow little scars, marks or skin texture or whatever, just a couple big gaping boxcar scars that I can't cover with make up and that stand out in life and in pictures.
Although I know what you're saying, sometimes I'm on real self and I see some 20 yr old girl freaking and about to spend $6k on laser for what she calls "scars" that are basically pores.
It's tough. I've saved money to do something about this and am willing to spend to fix the scars, I'm just concerned about paying all the money I have only to make things worse. So many horror stories. So I think a good, honest doctor is my best bet. Will keep you posted re: Novick and thanks again for responding!
Can see a lot more variation in your scars from those pictures. Excision may be your best bet with a few of those boxcars, I think subcision would have a very limited effect on them because they are so well defined. Just make sure the doctor you choose is very experienced.
