Take a syringe like this: , remove the plunger and cut off the end on the large part of the cylinder where the needle is normally inserted into place. Place the plunger into the new exposed end of the syringe and voila, you have a nice suction device that uses the smooth plastic side to create suction of any strength you want based on the negative pressure you generate from pulling on the plunger. Syringes have any diameter you want.
