I have a combination or boxcar and ice pick scars. Because they're tethered, I figured that subcision + suction would be the best method, but the dermatologist recommended "agnes RF" and it sounds like radiofrequency can be effective on atrophic scars too. Problem is I am trying to decide between them now and the more research I try to do the more confused I get.. Any advice or recommendations? They were both priced as approximately the same.

TCA CROSS, TCA PAINT, 30 g Saline subcsion with low density co2 to your 3 linear scars- do that 3 times by a specialist, then repost, you will be amazed with the results. No need for Agnes RF - no need for INFINI, keep things simple, be guided. It is not a hard job, good specialist will guide you. YOU WILL HAVE TEMPORARY PIH for 3-8 weeks, depends on your level of sun protection and HQ use. Once again , not hard. Just see the correct specialist.

Thank you for your reply! The dermatologist said that since I am of Asian ethnicity that TCA would not be a great option. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to do co2 either since he suggested 3 treatments, each a month apart and I would be moving away in about 2 months. Would you say then that Agnes RF would most likely be effective, just unnecessary in your opinion?

@hpha2276Obiwan can answer your response but I don't feel your Dr is not a good one if that is the treatment's they are offering, perhaps they don't specialize in acne scars. These are not up to date for your skin type. Agnes is for pores not boxcars. Obiwan gave you good treatment advice. Goto some more specialists for your skin type for further consults. Never rely on only one doctor for a opinion. If your moving away find treatment wherever your moving if that is more convenient, no rush.

A master of scar revision, Prof. CL Goh said this' for effective scar revision in Asian skin types, PIH is a must, especially with deep scars. One trades scars, for temporary PIH lasting 3-5 months....take it or leave it. That is the biology of melanin in Ethnic skin. '
I will not debate the issue of RF Agnes in your scar types. IF RF can be targeted to the dermis only, and collagen is stimulated, you have a winner. If Anges is in the fat layer, well....too much energy, you may have atrophy. Agnes was invented by the Koreans to treat individual pilosebaous units. Bottom line, your specialist may have specialist skill way beyond others. Give him the benefit of the doubt, take him up on the treatment. I am in no way a skilled nor well read practitioner, just listing to others. So my experience does not equal his. You have BAs view point which resonates mine.. choice is yours. I wish you well.
