Please help - how do I treat my scars?

I™ve suffered from acne for about 20 years and have these scars on my cheeks, chin, and nose to prove it.

My acne is mostly under control with a combination of BP and Differin. I™d say my acne is moderate when untreated. Now I get one or two pimples a month around the time I get my period, although I just had a huge breakout due to this new moisturizer I tried.

1. The bumpy scars on my cheeks bother me the most, are they hypertrophic scars? I think I may have some ice pick and boxcar too, as well as some hyperpigmentation. What types of scarring do you see in my pics?

2. How should my scars be treated?  How much $$$ should I prepare? I travel a lot so scheduling is an issue, but I should be able to see someone, perhaps in Singapore or Malaysia, later this year.

3. I™ve looked into getting the derminator, but would microneedling help with the kind of scarring I have?

4. What about acids? I use an 8% mandelic acid serum but afaik that wouldn™t help with scars. Would stronger AHA or BHA peels do me any good? Is TCA/glycolic peel ok for my Asian skin or should I go with mandelic or lactic?

Thank you in advance for any answers!

@JadedPistachio

Thank you for providing pictures that helps. Dollars, I have no idea, prices are different in each country. Treat as you have time and money, space it out over 3 years. Laser is the most expensive. Ask how many times they have done the procedure, if they have treated hypertrophic scars before, ask for pictures, look up reviews. No derminator for your case it will make more scars.

"A mandelic acid serum but afaik that wouldnat help with scars. Would stronger AHA or BHA peels do me any good? Is TCA/glycolic peel ok for my Asian skin or should I go with mandelic or lactic?" - Anything that would clean out the pores would be fine that you mentioned above, salicylic, or mandelic, or glycolic. I would not TCA till the end after the procedures. A good peel for you would be a peel for discoloration as well.

** Please Note I offer to acne scar suffers a "more" "customized" (private) consultation than the above general advice. Analysis, answering questions, ongoing support by Private Messaging. Feel free to message me there. Be patient as I can get over 100+ of the worst acne scar cases to help, it "may" take me up to 48 hours to respond.

Checkout the main scar treatments sub, find the FAQ pinned on top there, goto the bottom, there are Dr's or call around and ask who does cannula subcision or nokor subcision (needle type) to dermatologists and or plastic surgeons, consult a few before you decide who you like, even if you have to pay as treatment is expensive, better like them. Ask how many subcisions they do a month and if they treat your skin type. If they just do laser run they will just blast you and not solve your issue.

@JadedPistachio1) See picture one, big area to the right of the mouth, needs volume(filler)... I cannot say about the right side as I don't see the same angle there. This is optional, you may be happy with your contours. Going off pics is not the same as face to face.

@beautifulambition

I™m looking into which doctor to see and it™s so helpful to know which procedures I need so I can check which doctors perform them. :) :)

More questions:

1. The MUAC peel you mentioned, is it their Fade Peel?

œOur Fade Peel is appropriate for all types of skin discolorations.  Formulated with Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Kojic Acid and Malic Acid

They have a serum as well with, I assume, weaker acids. I take it using the peel weekly will work better than using the serum daily?

2. Is the fat loss in my cheek due to acne or general aging? Is this something a filler can fix?

3. Would a silicone gel help with my hypertrophic scars?

Thanks again! Let me know if there™s any way for me to support your work here because you™re the best resource on acne scars I™ve found online.

@JadedPistachio1) That is fine, they have a few indicated for this, give it a try, buy a"sample"

2) Depending on the peel strength you can do it monthly or bi-weekly, consult with them as they have great customer service

3) Filler can fix it, perhaps aging, or perhaps it's not even a issue, ... you know your skin best. You ask me to evaluate, everything is optional.

Thank You- PM me if you wish and we can chat more about questions.
