Yes, Dr. Rullan only does cannula subcision. He said Nokor has unwanted risks. Some doctors still use Nokor and in some cases it is needed. Dr. Rullan's cannula was pretty long so it covered a lot of area. I could definitely feel my skin being moved around. I didn't have many rolling scars so I didn't see the improvement others did. Still, subcision was incredibly easy to recover from. I didn't get any pigmented bruising (some yellow but you could hardly tell). I could feel the swelling but I doubt anybody could see it after one or two days. The insertion point takes a month or two to go away. I didn't notice any scarring there.
Lasers are tricky. They are risky. Some people say that fat loss can occur. You can get new scars from aggressive treatments - I got new scars. During recovery, you have to keep everything moisturized with Aquaphor, Vaseline, or something similar. If you are ethnic, you will almost always get PIE or PIH (don't rely on Hydroquinone to do wonders). Fair-skinned people can get deeper settings. Fractional CO2 or Erbium lasers won't do much for deep scars. You need to start with manual (subcision, TCA/Phenol Cross) treatments to raise up the scars first. Lasers smooth things out at the end. I saw improvement with shallower boxcars. I am of mixed descent so I suffered from erythema after the treatment. Don't both with non-ablative lasers for deep scars - you are wasting your money.

I think adeep Erbium or fractional CO2 laser treatment would help since you have fair skin. I'd like to hear other people's opinions on this.
Isnt Fraxel a CO2 laser? If so, I went through five treatments with no major change. I could be wrong though and it might be a different type of laser

There's Fraxel Repair (CO2) and Fraxel Restore (non-ablative). If you got Restore, you will pretty much get no results for deep scars.

Thanks for your reply. I've noticed you have experience and are very knowledgeable about different scar treatments. I had the same experience with cannula as you - some yellow pigmented bruising, the swelling was gone in 5 days( I had subcision a week ago)All I'm left with now is micro swelling, which I enjoy very much, I won't lie, lol!
For now I'm sticking to the treatment plan of my dermatologist. But the doctor said that my scarring isn't deep at all, just extensive and atrophic so I'm really interested in some kind of ablative laser later on, if it's necessaryIt's very interesting that you say the laser improved your shallower boxcar scars, that's great to hear. I wrote to you in PM about the details of your laser treatment.

Microswelling is great!! Unfortunately, it goes away. I really liked the volume of the microswelling as well.
I would like to warn you and others that many dermatologists are not experts at scarring. Just because they are doctors, it does not mean they are knowledgeable and up-to-date in certain areas. Your doctor could be great, but it is in your best interest to do as much research as you can and use online tools. You must be comfortable with a treatment before going forth with it. If a doctor tells you one treatment is best, is it because he/she wants money? This is why lots of doctors push for lasers because they can make lots of money off of them.

Microswelling is great:) Thank you but don't worry, I've seeked out one of the best doctors. Very ethical as well. I am happy with my treatment right now. Just asking around for info on lasers, that's all.
I keep telling ppl Genius is really friggin painful. Im bringing a stress ball on my next treatment. i was clenching my jaw the whole time lol. @Kristineellenyour skin is coming along well I think your scars have a lot of potential to become significantly softened I wish I didnt need subcision on my second round with Dr. Weiner haha

Entirely jealous. I was a giant baby. Lol

Have you looked into Phenol Cross? Based on your scars, I think Phenol Cross is a better option than TCA Cross.I've had it done several times. One of my scars got filled in a noticeable amount even though it took 3-4 months.
I had TCA Cross done only once but I think Phenol Cross is more effective and safer. Dr. Rullan says this and I trust him. I wouldn't say it has no risks but I think they are lower than TCA's.

I would stick with Cross. Let's see if the other treatments will improve your scars. I think fractional CO2 laser treatment will be good once those ice pick scars are less shallow. Lasers can't hit the scars sideways which is why Cross is superior in that regard.

Your skin appears to have healed very well. Did you have any grid marks or textural issues after Genius?
Hi friends. I forgot to update this. I am not going back for a third round. I think honestly there is improvement that not enough for me to suffer through that genius again and spend the money. I think my left cheek started off worse but reacted better and looks better now. Where is I dont think there is much improvement on my right. I could be wrong because obviously its myself and I over analyze my flaws
