Does This Look Like Acne To You?

I've been having this strange breakout on one side of my face for almost 2 months now. I've always had mild acne but this is just weird for me. Usually BP, salicylic acid, witch hazel, chemical peels, etc., will clear up my acne in a few hours to a day. However, this weird breakout is just not going away. I have tried oral antibiotics (doxy and mino) and topical (clindamycin lotion and gel). I am almost convinced its a mild case of ca-MRSA or something just due to the fact that I picked at the original breakout with needles etc., and had been out and traveling. Also, I work in a cellphone store so I am in contact with a lot of people. One doctor said its not cystic and just looks like pustules and my pharmacist told me I have all the symptoms of MRSA (pustules, itching, extreme redness). However, the last doctor I saw said it was cystic acne...which just threw me off because there are barely any deep pimples, and in the past any cystic pimples I've had that were a lot bigger than the pimples I have now, and went away within a week or two. Also, these pimples come to a head and sometimes even drain on their own but they just keep coming back. I don't have insurance so it's pricey for me to get properly diagnosed and get the area cultured etc. I ended up forcing the doctor to prescribe me mupirocin ointment yesterday which has worked amazing in the past. Anyways, just wanted to know if anyone has ever had this type or acne or infection or whatever it is.

It's sort of unusual how it's just affecting one part of your face and the rest of your face looks so normal. I think you should really try to get it cultured even if it is expensive. MRSA is dangerous and it would be horrible if that's what it is and it spread beyond your skin.

I agree with the above, to me it kind of looks as though is spreading. Cystic acne, for me at least, comes as huge red deep pimples. They dont look like cyst to me. You look like you have a few pustules and maybe some nodules.

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Definitely get it cultured. Years ago I got a weird pustular rash on my back that I just assumed was acne - seeing as I am acne prone :) It responded to nothing and I was eventually referred to the dermatology department who took a culture. In the end it turned out to be some kind of follicular infection I picked up probably from sitting in my friends hot tub. I suffered for months and it was gone in no time with the right antibiotic. Weirdly I was given some BP cream to use as well, not because it was acne but because it cleanses and oxygenates the pores so no bacteria can live in there.I wouldn't recommend using anything on your face though until you know what you are dealing with. Good luck! x

Looks really similar to mine except I have it on both sides and cyst on neck. I think it's just normal acne.
