Hi! Last year, right when college started, my acne erupted which pretty much went everywhere on my face. Anyway a year has passed and my acne is under control, but the texture of my skin in general is just HORRIBLE. I feel like my skin aged 20 years and Im only 19. I avoid meeting with friends and stay indoor pretty much all the time. I have this horrible texture on my forehead that is noticeable in any type of light and I hate it. Can someone please help me on my treatment that will improve it and my facial texture overall?
Stuff I used for acne.
- Ziana
- Epiduo
- Tetracycline
- Solodyn
- Bactrim
On top of that I had a couple of acne extractions done also.
To be honest when using Ziana and Epiduo and was never religious on putting on moisterizer. Something I regretted. I believe the tretinoin and adapalene in both Epiduo and Ziana had something to do with my skin texture.
The picture is a pic of my forehead and thats the best I can do in term of camera taking. Its much worse in person. As you can see my forehead has this orange peel kind of texture and its absolutely HIDEOUS. Any recommendation would help. Thanks!
Everyones skin is different. That being said its hard to find out what is good or bad for u. I hate having to play my own chemist xD what texture is it like? Dry sandpaper or oily or just not smooth and filled with lines? I would recommend 4 things retin-a , a good moisturizor Porcelana and witch hazel. I'm at the still struggling with acne stage so the retin-a and moisturizer don't work for me for some weird reason but the retin-a is like a mini peel for your face dont put to much on though. porcelana is like a skin lightener so any scars or anything u might this will help with that and but I cannot tell you enough how much I love witch hazel I just stared using it a few hours ago and oh my god it already improved my acne and skin texture its like so much better not dry and damaged all within the first day of using it amazing oh I almost forgot one more thing to consider, Dr. Bell its a white thick cream its a great substitute for a moisturizer if u have reactions to them. All suggestions that u can checkout and most u can get from a drugstore like cvs or walgreens hope this helped

Thanks for reply! Anyway, I have combination skin and my forehead, especially, gets oily. I wouldn't mind this, but my forehead has these bumps that becomes very noticeable when in any lighting. Its weird as it only appear on the forehead. Example of the texture would be like chicken skin that people usually get.
And isnt retin-a active ingredient tretinoin? In the past I tried the topical Ziana which does have tretinoin and I believe this was the cause the the texture, but I am not sure.
So would a witch hazel be a good substitute for a moisturizer? As of now I am using a moisturizer that doesn't really moisturize IMO.
I have to wait next til the end of next month to see a dermatologist as consultation is really expensive (cash patient haha)

Um I don't really know if witch hazel is a good moisturizer . it might be like the one ur using now cuz it doesn't leave ur skin dry but , it doesn't overly make your skin soft it just leaves it normal. Before I apply my makeup I wipe my face with witch hazel on a cotton pad then apply teatree oil and use dr. Bell as a moisturizer. It doesn't irritate the skin or clog your pores and it has titanium dioxide so thats why I like to use bell as my moisturizer.
i recommend glycolic acid 10% lotion it will fade those away in a month
Thanks for the help! Is glycolic acid safe? Never heard of it to be honest haha

Thanks! I was wondering if you used it? Does it help with the overall texture of the skin? (Smooth it out. Even it out and such) i have an orange peel kind of texture to my face that makes it seems out of place haha
yeah i use it and it works amazing , i wash my face in the morning then dry my skin then apply it to whole face for a even texture and color and same for at night
when you wake up next day and wash it off you should see a difference or it takes a week
also make sure u drink atleast 4 bottles of water a day to hydrate your skin
