Facial Extractions: Good Or Bad?

So I'm sure some of you know what facial extractions are, in which the aesthetician draws out blackheads and whiteheads/pimples using a tool. I have done it before, and it hurt pretty bad. Everytime she was done with my facial, my face was insanely red and swollen and I had to ice it when I got home. I did it about every two weeks for like two months, and I guess my face got better. But I stopped because I didn't like how inflamed and red it made my face afterwords.

I read an article that said when an aesthetician performs extractions, your face should not look super red and inflamed after, and it means they were too harsh and doing it wrong.

However, my cousin, who also had/has some moderate acne, goes to Massage Envy for her facials/extractions and she said she doesn't get too red and her face looks great afterwords. I've wanted to try it, however I'm pretty scared that my face could freak out from it and get red again.

Have any of you had a good extraction experience? Will it help clear up my acne/hyperpigmentation? Will I be super inflamed afterwords? Can they calm down the redness afterwords? If you can give me some advice, it's greatly appreciated. :)

Bump. If anyone has had any experience or knowledge of extractions I'd really appreciate it if you could share with me.

I had fasial extractions and I really like it. It does make your skin red and inflamed but it clears up within 2-3 days. I just have one question, are you using acne products on your skin after the facial? Your not supposed to do anything to your skin after 3 days of doing the facial.

Facial extractions are a very personal thing and the results for one person can be different for another. The three times that I have done it, I have had HORRIBLE results. More severe breakouts that never went away. I will never ever try it again.
