Hello everyone,I started this topic to share something I've learnt last week...a few weeks ago I woke up with a red bump on the side of the my nose that looked like cystic acne but it wasn't painful,I tried everything from topical ointments to oral antibiotics,anti-inflammatory drugs, nothing ever worked and the bump kept getting bigger and the redness was becoming more noticeable,so I googled it and a few threads regarding the same issueon this board came up but none of the posters had success with treating it...so anyways after finally seeing my derm last week he told meit wasn't a cyst or broken blood capillariesit was actually herpes ! it looked nothing like the pics I've seen before of herpes on nose it looked exactly like cystic acne round bump rubbery feel to it but no painful to touch, anyways he prescribed to me topical Acyclovir ointment 3 times a day + oral Acyclovir tablets 800 mg twice a day and it went away in a week !
I was so frustrated with it I had it for a few weeks and I thought I might need laser treatment or cautery.I though I'd share this with you in case anyone is having a similar problem keep in mind it might not be a cyst if topical treatments for a long time can't seem to bring it to the surface.
Hi,
I have a red rubbery bump on the side of my nose that doesn't hurt at all very similar to what you just described. I don't know what it is. Its never had a head and have had no luck on making it go away either. I've tried tea tree oil, honey, aloe vera, toothpaste, baking soda paste, warm/hot compression, Mario Badescu Drying Lotion and nothing has happened. I have had this bump since Dec. 29th (18 days) now. I called the dermatologist but they can't get me in until the last week of March. My question to you is, do you happened to have taken a picture of your bump? I was wondering if that's what i have too. Also does the topical Acyclovir ointment and oral Acyclovir tablets 800 mg need to be prescribed or can i get them over the counter?
