You may have fungal acne. If you get back to me with answers to the questions below, I can provide information to control the problem.
Fungal acne is caused by taking antibiotics and some other meds.
Doctors know nothing about fungal acne.
You can control fungal acne by doing the following -
1. Buy clotrimazole topical antifungal cream and apply it to the areas with "acne" 2-3 times a day. Topical antifungal creams are TOTALLY safe and some/most (depending on country) are available without a prescription.
2. Wash your hair in an antidandruff shampoo.
3. Do NOT apply any moisturisers or organic oils to the areas with acne unless your skin becomes verydry. Moisturisers and organic oils feed one type of fungal acne and all fungus loves moisture.
If you get back to me with answers to the questions below, I can provide targeted information to control your "acne".
Have you taken antibiotics or other meds.
Do you have one or more of the following (as well as the acne) - white coating on your tongue, dandruff, flaking skin, toenail fungus, itchy and/or painful skin, red rash/es, unexplained tiredness, headaches, "brain fog", stomach or gut problems, sinus problems.
You may need a more targeted antifungal cream to control the "acne". I can provide information about this after I hear back from you.
I look forward to hearing back from you.
Thank you for your response,

You 99% most likely have fungal acne, probably caused by candida fungus (possibly ? together with malasezzia fungus, but probably just candida from your symptoms), and the candida fungus is also most likely to be causing your gut and sinus problems.
The fungal problem on your skin and in your gut are caused by the antibiotics, which kill the "good" bacteria that control fungus.
- You can control your fungal "acne" by doing the following -
1. Buy clotrimazole topical antifungal cream (often sold as Canesten) and apply it to the areas with "acne" 2-3 times a day. If you can get it, also buy topical nystatin antifungal cream (often sold as Mycostatin) and apply that together with the clotrimazole cream. Topical antifungal creams are TOTALLY safe.
2. Wash your hair in an antidandruff shampoo. Dandruff is caused by fungus. I realise you don't have dandruff. That is probably because you have an outbreak of candida fungus (which does not cause dandruff) rather than malasezzia fungus (which causes dandruff).
Some antidandruff shampoos can irritate skin on people's faces, so stop using the shampoo on your face, if it causes irritation. Mustela Foam Shampoo for Newborns is an non-irritating antifungal shampoo. See if you can buy it online or at a shop. If you can get it, then wash the areas with "acne" in this shampoo.
3. Do NOT apply any moisturisers or organic oils to the areas with acne unless your skin becomes very dry. Fungus loves moisture.
- You can fix your brain fog, tiredness and gut issues by doing the following.
Buy some oral Nilstat (which is sold to treat mouth candida = thrush) and swallow it. You are supposed to swallow oral Nilstat - it is very safe. Candida causes gut problems and tiredness/brain fogs because it makes aldehydes (which are the chemical that cause hangovers). The aldehydes upset people's gut/stomach and cause brain fog and tiredness, just as hangovers do.
If you cannot get oral Nilstat, there are some alternatives, but oral Nilstat is the best for fixing gut problems caused by candida.
You might also have an overgrowth of a nasty bacteria in your gut called Clostridium dificule from taking the antibiotics (which I realise you probably had to take). Clostridium difficule causes really bad gut problems. The most likely factor causing your gut problems is candida.
Can I ask which antibiotic/s you took when you had your tonsillitis ? Virtually ALL antibiotics cause overgrowth of candida fungus, but only SOME antibiotics cause outbreaks of Cl. difficule bacteria.
Stuffy noses caused by candida are hard to fix, in my experience. You could try using a eucalyptus nasal spray or using a Neti pot (look it up on the web) to rinse out your nose.
I look forward to hearing how things go with the above "treatments".
Do you have a white coating on your tongue ?
Thank you for all the info!!! Clindamycin Hcl is the antibitoic I took - for about 2 weeks
I just ordered some canesten as the shampoo isnt working very well And its just making my skin VERY dry but still red and bumpy.
When i wake up in the mornings yes, my tounge has a white coating on it, but i brush my teeth and tounge and its not back all day.
do you have alternative to oral Nilstat ? I cant seem to find it online anywhere?

Thanks for your post. A white tongue indicates a candida problem.
Were you using the Mustela Foam Shampoo for Newborns on your skin ? That shampoo should be OK on skin. But all other antidandruff shampoos will irritate skin. Don't use ordinary anti dandruff shampoos on your skin. I just realised that my post above was not clear about this - my apologies.
Do use an antidandruff shampoo to wash your hair, if that is not too irritating.
Anti dandruff shampoo on its own won't control fungal acne. You do need to apply antifungal cream also such as clotrimazole. If the clotrimazole does not control your skin problems, then I can provide advice on how to get nystatin powder legally in the US, for topical use (mixed with clotrimazole powder).
You can try taking Dequaden lozenges to control your gut issues (and therefore tiredness/brain fog) - Dequden lozenges are sold to treat mouth ulcers and they are antifungal. If the Dequaden lozenges don't control your brain fog and gut problems, then I can provide advice on how to get nystatin powder that you can take, or an alternative option, in the US.
Clindamycin is the antibiotic that causes outbreaks of Clostridium difficule bacteria in the gut. This bacteria causes gut issues. However, candida also causes similar gut issues, so first see if controlingl the candida in your gut fixes your gut and tiredness/brain fog problems. If the treatments for gut candida don't control your gut issues then you may need to seek medical advice about controlling Clostridium difficule.
I look forward to hearing updates.
I was using Nizoral and head and shoulders but i stopped using it on skin and just use it on my hair now.
Ive been applying clotrimazole creamfor a week and have no progress in my skin? its still just as bumpy. Ive been usingcanesten creame 2x / day once in the morning and once at night.
Thanks for the feedback Brownbag. Do you have dandruff ? I ask this question so I can work out which alternative antifungal to suggest.
Clotrimazole is a broad spectrum antifungal cream, and sometimes people need a more targeted antifungal cream to control their fungal acne. I can provide advice on which antipfgungal cream to try now when I hear back from you.
Has any of the redness gone from your skin ?
No i do not have any dandruff!
My skin is VERY red and bumpy and dry - so much texture ive gone though a whole tube of clotrimazole and I cant find the other cream suggested in Canada (where i live)
I have to work in a very professional setting and be in front of a lot of people each day so I HAVE to wear makeup - i wear the it cosmetics CC cream during the day to cover any redness - i do find that by the end of the day the bumps look worse then when I just wake up. The seccond I get home I take off all makeup and apply the cream - I also wear it under my makeup.
Any other suggestions ? Im also taking some natural candida gone tablets because im 99.9% sure Its a candida overgrowth. After taking the antibiotics ive gotten 2 yeast infections, have a white tounge and now these bumps all over my face and back! Sign...
My diet is very clean i start each morning with 32 ox of celery juice and have 8 glasses of lemon water a day - I am also vegan and gluten intolerent so RARLEY eat any bread / if i eat pasta its always gluten free. My diet is mainly leafy greens and fruit and veggies.

The best thing to control candida (which is most likely causing your fungal acne, poossibly along wit gram negative bacteria - see below) is nystatin. Clotrimazole is not as good as nystatin for controlling candida acne.
You can make up your own nystatin cream by buying Medistatin powder (which is sold to treat candida in birds, and is perfectly safe to use topically in humans - no prescription needed) and mix the Medistatin powder into the clotrimazole cream in a ratio of 1 part Medistatin powder to 5 parts clotrimazole powder.
You might have to import the Medistatin powder from the US as it seems to be out of stock from the stockist in Canada, but it is a legal product in Canada to the best of my knowledge

The mixture will make your skin a bit yellow (it washes off) so you might only be able to use it at night. Use the clotrimazle cream by itself in the daytime.
Also buy a tube of ointment with polymixin in it (which you can buy without a prescription in Canada) and apply that to the areas with acne. Polymixcin is antifungal to some extent and it is also anti-gram negative bacteria.
Gram negative bacteria cause acne. Outbreaks of gram negative bacteria are caused by clindamycin, which kills gram positive bacteria and allows gram negative bacteria to proliferate.
Also keep your skin as dry as possible. Do NOT put anything with organic oils in it on your skin.
Also take Dequaden lozenges which are antifungal.
Let me know how you go, if that is OK.
Thank you I will try the above and let you know how it works out!
have you heard of using castor oil for fungal acne? The below are benefits of castor oil but im wondering if it would make it worse or better
- .as an anti-fungal (athletes foot, ringworm, etc.): The active compound found in castor oilcalled undecylenic acid is highly anti-fungal.Apply the oil over the affected area and wrapwith a water proof band aidovernight for best results.
- ...for acne:The ricinoleic acid found in castor oilfights off acne-causing bacteria andpenetrates the skin layers to where the acne has its roots.Wash your face with warm water andmassage your face in a circular motion with the oil.Keep the oil onovernightand rinseyour face in themorning with cold water.

Castor oil does not contain undecylenic acid, but undecylenic acid is made from castor oil. Undec acid is (mildly) antifungal. It is in a lot of antifungal powders and you can also take it. It is quite safe to take.
I was going to suggest that you take undec acid, if the Dequaden lozenges do not solve your gut and brain fog problems.
Castor oil won't control fungal acne, and don't take it !!!!! It will give you "the runs". Undec acid does not cause the "runs".
Most people with fungal acne have some malasezzia along with candida fungal acne. Castor oil will feed the malasezzia fungus.
@brownbag25 Hi i have this exact skin
I was wondering if youve figured out what it is and how u got rid of it?
