Hi Folks,
got a really big cyst on my neck (a bit under my ear) from an bacterial infection, treated the inflammation with antibiotics and wanted to excise the whole thing afterwards. But my Surgeon wanted to do a cortisone shot, i stupidly agreed. He actually didnt inject directly into the cyst, but beneath. Is that normal?
Its 24h later and it has gone down just a bit, but I wonder if i should have instisted on excising
I strongly advise you to consult with a licensed medical professional or specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment options.
However, in general, cortisol injections are typically used to reduce inflammation and pain in certain conditions, such as arthritis, bursitis, and tendinitis. Injecting cortisol beneath a cyst is not a typical treatment approach, as cysts are generally benign and do not usually require treatment.
If you have a cyst that is causing discomfort or other symptoms, a medical professional may recommend several treatment options depending on the size, location, and type of cyst. These treatment options may include:
Watchful waiting: Many cysts are harmless and may disappear on their own over time without any treatment.
Drainage: If the cyst is large, painful, or infected, a medical professional may recommend draining it using a needle or incision.
Surgery: In some cases, a surgical procedure may be necessary to remove the cyst.
Again, I strongly recommend that you seek the advice of a licensed medical professional who can evaluate your specific situation and provide you with the most appropriate treatment options.
