Hi everyone. How can I tell if this is fungal acne or regular acne? I have oily skin with blackheads, and I also have breakouts on my back and chest. My scalp is flaky and often itchy. My acne is also quite itchy. I really dont know, and I keep overthinking it. Can someone who knows the difference between Acne Vulgaris and fungal acne help me? Are these open and closed comedones and clogged pores causing the acne, or is it fungal and requires an antifungal treatment?
Just looks like acne to me. Have you taken the quiz yet? It's a good place to start. You want to take care of this immediately before you get too much scarring.
Hey man, I dont know much about vulgaris but am familiar with fungal acne, if you have a flaky scalp that itches and your acne/face itches too, chances are its fungal. Gonna sound crazy but try using head and shoulders (yes, the dandruff shampoo) as your cleanser. Apply it to your face, rub it in (not too harsh) and then let it sit for a couple of minutes before you rinse off. Try this for a few days and see if you notice any reduction in redness/swelling/new spots, etc.
