same for me, but lucky you your acne was mild and not cystic, you have no scars, you are SO LUCKY!!!!!.....mine was cystic and left a lot of scars....but gluten free cleared me quite a bit, and dairy the rest of the way....tough living this way, but tougher living with acne
but as we know this is not the answer for everyone, but it's the first thing I'd try before going on accutane...good for you!

I don't know if you could call it cystic acne, but I do remember having deep and painful large bumps on my forehead, and especially around my nose, that would never be able to pop. I think that left some minor scarring that doesn't show up well in the picture. I'll try to see if I can upload a good pic of the texture of my skin! But, yes, I was very lucky to be able to make it better before more scarring occurred! The ziana helped as well, I think. But I'm so grateful to have discovered the cause. I never even knew what gluten was until this recent hype, and thought it was a myth that what you eat affects your breakouts because I listened to the proactiv ladies. So silly and harmful. I also avoid dairy, but I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but you're right- so much better to trade dairy and gluten for acne!

From the little that I've read about gluten free, if you effectively cut it out, it should stop producing acne almost immediately and as soon as the remaining breakouts heal you should be fairly clear. My guess is that either means you're not gluten intolerant or you are extraordinarily gluten intolerant and even the most trace amounts could be causing you to break out. I know exactly how you feel-- having only started this two weeks ago I am still in a state of disbelief about my skin and expect it to turn horrific any day now. When you try thing after thing for years and nothing truly works, you stop believing anything ever will. I mean this with my whole heart when I say that if I could find something, you can, too! Hang in there and keep searching for answers! Have you looked into holistic lifestyle changes that go along with diet changes? I read a free e-book on [Edited link out] that has really sound advice that would certainly never hurt to try! Surely it's no harder than cutting gluten out for 5 months. I wish so much that I had the answers for you- thank you for commenting and letting me know!
