So I believe I have very sensitive skin. I had these tiny bumps on my forehead that I was given stievamycin and benzaclin gel for. I used these on my acne spots, however now my face is a terrible texture on my cheeks and forehead I used to have such smooth skin. I've been crying non stop I don't know what to do and don't know if it's permanent. Please help.. It's causing me a lot of distress bc I need to wear makeup but it only makes it looks worse. I can't stop crying because I don't know what it is, don't know what to do and don't know if it's permanent. It started out a week ago my skin was very oily but now it's very dry and tight feeling and it's dry patches on my cheeks and forehead. There's very tiny looking holes on my forehead but there's so many, and lines.
Benzoyl peroxide (it's in Benzaclin) made my skin look awful and ten years older.
Benzoyl peroxide completely strips your skin of moisture. Moisture is water. How oily your skin is doesn't have a whole lot to do without how much water it holds. Water is the important thing here. Without moisture (water retention) your skin sags like you're seeing, and it can't heal itself.
It pretty much went back to the way it is after I stopped benzoyl peroxide and used a great moisturizing cream with ceramides and humectants (I used CeraVe). I used it about 3x a day. Eventually my skin did recover.
The other thing to watch is the stievamycin because it contains tretinoin. This also strips moisture from your skin, and some people notice it makes their skin look worse while they're on it. Honestly I'd just stop both products.
