Hi everyone! I've actually never posted anything here before, but throughout my long and hard journey with acne this place gave me a lot of good advice/hope. I just wanted to share a few photos and explain how I helped "cure" my acne (I still have some uneven skin texture, closed comedones, and hyper pigmentation, but i've come a very long way).
It all started with the insertion of my Mirena IUD. I had the Mirena inserted in August right before I went to college. I didn't notice anything at first, a few small zits and some larger cysts on my chin but nothing I hadn't dealt with before (I've always had lightly problematic skin but nothing more than 2-3 spots at a time). Then it started getting worse and worse. By winter break my chin was entirely cystic acne. My chin was in so much pain and every time I touched it all I felt were the 6-7 large, painful cysts there. I still only had some light spots on the rest of my face. At that time I hadn't made the connection that it was my IUD causing the cysts on my chin, so I made a lot of uneducated changes in my skincare routine. 
I figured that my skin wasn't getting clean enough, so I began using Neutrogena makeup cleansing wipes all over my entire face before I would wash my face. I also read online to use witch hazel as a toner so I bought that too and began using it on a cotton pad all over my entire face after washing. My skin got wayyy worse. I didn't realize there was alcohol in the makeup wipes and the witch hazel I purchased was not alcohol free, and it broke out my sensitive skin so bad, especially on my forehead. 
I then went to  the dermatologist, who prescribed me medication and told me that the major cause of my problems could be my iud. She told me that removal would shock my hormones again and only make my acne much worse and that I should keep the iud in and attempt to use topical creams and an antibiotic to fix my acne.  I decided to get the iud removed anyway.
I got my IUD removed in December and moved on to using the Philosophy brand "Clear" skincare line for acne treatment (because I didn't want to use what was prescribed to me by my doctor for fear of the "purge period"). The philosophy products brought noticeably good change at first. But after a while they just dried out my skin and made everything worse again.
Fast forward to June, I was 6 months after removal of my IUD and found a skincare routine that nourishes my skin. I use the Burts Bees Apricot Facial Scrub (It is my favorite of ALL TIME - it is extremely gentle, despite what you might assume about an apricot scrub), I use apple cider vinegar diluted with water as a toner, and Aveeno ultra calming moisturizer. I don't use all of these products every single morning and night (except for the cleanser). But I use them whenever I feel like my skin needs them - I've figured out that less is more. It's July now, 7 months after my IUD removal and I couldn't be more grateful for where my skin is today.
*Note- These photos are progress photos taken from about February to Yesterday (July) after most of my chin cysts had healed. I know you can't see much of the hyper pigmentation or my skin texture either, but I promise the difference is huge.
