Pros:

cleared up pustules, black heads, and dried out skin

Cons:

upset stomach, nodules/ cysts got bigger and more painful, did NOTHING for them.

I could deal with the stomach pain for this pill, but it making my painful cystic acne worse was unbearable. *also i was prescribed the 135 mg dosage but only weigh 125 +/- a couple lbs depending on the day and from what I've read online that is an extremely high dosage, so that could've been the reason for my stomach issues.

Pros:

My chest, back and neck acne is 98% GONE!! Yay! They gave me a discount card to use, so my first prescription was FREE instead of $40. The next two are only $10 and after that, you can simply call back and request another card for the same promotion, over and over again!

Cons:

None to mention yet. Only been on it for a month...

I have had acne since age 11 and I am now 30. Nothing has worked for me except Accutane, which gave me suicidal thoughts and dried out my skin/lips/scalp horribly bad. Sadly, my 100% clear body/face was short-lived after my Accutane wore off and it's too dangerous in my opinion, to try it again. Bare Mineral makeup by Bare Escentuals completely cleared up my facial acne within a couple weeks, I have been using that for 3 months. But...my body acne was still there, on my neck, chest and back. Body acne SUCKS. So, I went to a dermatologist and he put me on Solodyn. It's been one month and I can now wear v-neck shirts. My small pus-filled pimples are 98% gone and I couldn't be happier. After reading the reviews, I do worry it will stop working after a few months, but so far, it's been GREAT at clearing up my body acne. I will have to keep a close eye on it after a few months to see if I am one of the people it will stop working on. I love this site, such good information being shared is a wonderful thing. Pros:

Keeps skin under control, reduces oiliness, don't have to worry about my skin going out of control, and my skin is healing up very well.

Cons:

Initially the small bumps on my skin surfaced and are starting to go away. dryness of skin, but lotion fixes that.

I originally took doxycycline and that worked initially, but never actually got my skin completely clear. broke out badly and tried to manage with it, but it only got worse. I was too harsh on my skin (putting to much products on), which dried out my skin badly. Solodyn has had no negative side effects and seems to be clearing up my skin just fine. The initial breakout just surfaces the small pimples and they soon go away.

Pros:

Clears up acne fast
Cheap with the discount coupon (only $10)
No side effects (atleast I haven't had any)

Cons:

Few months after stopping intake, acne start resurfacing :(

After delivering my baby, I started getting huge bumps and lesions all over my face, neck, back and chest.. went to a dermatologist.. was on several medications..like doxycycline, clindamicyn, Muprocin.(can't even remember names).. condition worsened.. doc suspected MRSA.. was also admitted to hospital for few days due to rashes from one of the medications.. was given IV antibiotic(don't remember name but they said it is a very strong medicine)... condition improved a little but still few old lesions were there and new bumps were emerging... so changed doc... new doc prescribed Solodyn saying tht infection looks more like a severe acne prblm than anything else... started seeing effects within first month itself and within 2 months I was acne free.. Solodyn is really a wonder medicine for me.. stopped solodyn after 2 months... was acne free for 4 months and then saw 2-3 acne again on face so took solodyn for one more month and was clear again within 15 days of taking solodyn... was 5 months without solodyn and without acne. 2 weeks ago, I saw eruption again along my jawline (that's where it always starts)... so rushed to doc today to get my prescription again... will use solodyn for 1 more month... am quite positive that it will work again like it always has for me :)... For those of you who have tried lots of medicines and lost hope, pls try this one too... I have had no luck with so many but solodyn works like a charm for me..

Pros:

Clear skin =)

Cons:

None!

I had a horrible break out around the beginning of April! My entire face was coverred in acne. It was horrible! I wouldn't go anywhere or do anything! I just stayed home and cried all day. My derm put me on Solodyn 65mg, Atralin gel .05% and Ovace wash. It took 5 weeks to really notice a big difference! I'm on my seventh month and I have about only two active pimples! They only thing left now are the red marks! Remember not to give up on a product and have patience! It will work! I also had no side effects. I did go out in the sun, but it wctually helped me tan =) I always cover my face though and use 100 SPF on it.

Pros:

Works Fast, doesn't make you feel sick and inexpensive.

Cons:

None

I have been taking Solodyn for a week. This is my first prescription acne medication and I already love it. Although I've only been on it for a week I have already seen tremendous results as the breakouts have gotten drastically better and any scars have been starting to clear up! I can't wait to see what happens in a month!

Pros:

-> worked at first, and did a great job at managing my acne; however, it stopped working after about a month or two!

Cons:

-> just stopped working
-> became ineffective
-> skin was still breaking out, didn't really see a huge change.

This was the first prescription medicine that my derm put me on. I was really excited about trying it about for about 2 to 3 weeks, my acne seemed to be under control. However, after awhile, this just stopped working. Some of my acne came back. I wouldn't really recommend this, because I have seen much better results with *Spironolactone* instead!

Pros:

Clears up exsisting acne fast

Cons:

causes new acne
causes hyperpigmentation
horrible side effects - nasuea, dizzyness, crazy dreams, headaches, and lethargy
expensive w/o insurance ($1000.00)

I'm sort of on the fence about Solodyn. I have light acne, but once in a blue moon I will break out and get a cluster of hormonal cystic acne on my cheek. Over Christmas I got a couple on my cheek & on my forehead. I decided I didn't want to wait two or three months for it to heal, so I went to my dermatologist. I was prescribed 55mg of Solodyn and right away I could tell it was working. It made my exsisting acne clear up right away. However, if you stop taking it for one day, it will cause you break out, but make it even worse, which is what happened to me. There was a mix up with my prescription and I had to wait four days for it to be refilled and during that time, the Solodyn caused me to break out into five huge cystic acne. I'm Asian with fair but olive skin, meaning I scar easily. Ususally when I break out, it leaves a bit of a mark, but with Solodyn, it left me with large purplish marks that I've never had before. If you don't want pigmentation, don't take this drug. When you're on this, man do you pigment. Also, the new acne that gets pushed out by the Solodyn takes forever to go away. The five that was on my cheek took a month a half to go away. It also makes any little bump you have turn into cystic ance. Transformed a small bump on my cheek turn into a pus filled papule. I'm on my third month, and I'm slowy weaning myself off this product. I like that it got rid of my exsisting acne, however, the resulting acne from the Solodyn isn't worth it. Neither are the side effects. My doctor told me to take it w/food, so it hasn't been that bad. One night I forgot to take it w/food and got the worst headache coupled with some pretty crazy dreams. Lesson learned, eat it with food and you'll be fine. If you have light acne, I probably wouldn't recomment you take this, but if your acne is severe or moderate, anything is worth a try. I, on the other hand, would not do this again.

Pros:

After one month, my red, puss-filled zits are NO MORE! My skin is starting to look radiant.

Cons:

Daily headaches during the first two weeks, dizziness/light headed, fatigue.

After a month SOLODYN has really cleared up my face. If you have decent insurance, you get the first month free and the following two months prescriptions for only $10.00. I would highly recommend using this medicine despite its side effects.
