Pros:

It cleared my face
I started noticing that my scars were becoming lighter

Cons:

Messy

After reading a lot of reviews on here, I was actually afraid to try it but I'm so glad I did! I have periods where my acne can get really bad and this cleared it right up. I've been using a mask for about a week now and I am very happy with the results. I put olive oil on my scars to soften them for about 5 minutes. Then, I take a wet wash cloth and heat it up as hot as I can stand it (for me, about 45 secs in the microwave) and put it on my face until it becomes cool to open my pores. I like to put baking soda in a small bowl, add a few drops of fresh lemon juice (note, if your skin is very sensitive you may want to forego the lemon) and then add water until it's a little softer than a toothpaste consistency. I put it on my face for a minimum of 10 minutes and then wash it off. The hardened baking soda exfoliates your skin as you wash it off. Make sure you moisturize a lot afterwards and that's it. Note: when the mask hardens it can begin to flake so be aware of your facial expressions!

Pros:

clears up acne
makes skin soft (it can be a great exfoliator)
cheap (I get mine from the dollar store)
helps with skin discoloration

Cons:

None

Baking Soda is an amazing little acne fighting ingredient which I sometimes add to my face washes but most often use on my own. On its own, depending on how you want use it as (a face wash or as a mask) I either add a lot or little water to make to it. I use it most often as a mask. Here's what I do. -I put some in a little bowl/or cup and add water to it until it becomes a toothpaste texture -I put it on my face and leave it on for two minutes (I take this time to brush my teeth) -I rinse it off, tone, and moisturize I would recommend that you get it. Why? its so cheap and unless you have super sensitive skin (some people complain about it reddening and burning their skin, problems which I haven't really had) you really have nothing to loose.

Pros:

- easy
- cheap
- works in a pinch

Cons:

- stings skin the first few times
- dries skin

Baking soda will work in a pinch to reduce redness, but I don't really recommend it because it didn't do much for my acne otherwise.

Pros:

-Works as an exfoliator
-Softens your skin
-Brightens your skin
-Reduces redness
-Tightens skin

Cons:

-Has a bit of salty taste. (Not a big deal though, haha.)

I got a little bowl and added a little bit of water. Then little by little I added baking soda while mixing it with a chopstick. Stop when you get a paste-like consistency. Add a couple drops of organic honey (or regular) and it will work as a moisturizer and soften your skin. I have read a couple reviews where they said it burned or stung for them, but it hasn't happened to me. Which was quite surprising because I have eczema and my skin is extremely dry compared to others. As to where I have to apply face lotion more than 3 times after I wash my face. If your face is known to be dry and flaky, I recommend that you add more honey rather than using baking soda on it's own. It will help balance out the harshness and will moisturize your skin as well! Make sure you do apply face lotion afterwards though. I don't recommend you use this everyday though. Switch around and try other home remedies such as honey or green tea facial. Use a home remedy every other day because your face has natural oils that are known to treat your acne. You don't want to wash it away do you? It's also good to switch your products once in a while. Like every other medicine, using the same product over and over again will be less effective over time because your body has gotten used to it. Good luck!

Pros:

Cheap
Effective: clarifies and even evens out my skin tone

Cons:

Can be slightly drying, but just apply moisturizer afterwards

Love it!. Worked like a dream for me. I don't use it as a mask, I just mix it with some water and use it as a regular facial cleaner. This way, it doesn't stay on my face long enough to dry it out significantly but still leaves behind great results. Highly recommened using this as a facial cleanser.

Pros:

Great exfoiliator (not harsh) & cheap.

Cons:

None

I use this every 2-3 days depending on how my skin feels. I use a liquid black soap cleanser on my face then take baking soda and rub in small circles all over for about a minute. cheap & easy!

Pros:

While Baking Soda can sting a little initially, I find that this only lasts for a few minutes, and that by using a light moisturizer (such as one with Aloe Vera in it (Jergens makes a good one)), it helps alleviate this faster and helps with dryness.

Cons:

None so far. I USE IT TO WASH MY HAIR TOO!!! If your scalp is oily then it will affect your acne. About 1.5 yrs ago I noticed a change in my hair, shortly after, I got acne. Mix 1/4 cup baking soda with 22 ml water, pour into hair/scrub 2 min/rinse

Baking soda dries up extra sebum (oil), and you can see the results right away (even shortly after you wash your face with it the first time - go back to the mirror, add your moisturizer, and feel how smooth your skin is already! SHAMPOO with it as noted above - but RINSE it all out. If your hair gets dry, then you can pick up an all NATURAL conditioner from the supermarket or drug store and use a tiny bit - work it through - rinse again. I only have to wash my hair TWICE PER WEEK now - it is shiny, clean, and I don't get an oily forehead and nose anymore- I used to have to wipe my face several times per day prior to shampooing with Baking Soda! It's CHEAP!!! I am so thankful for blogs like this and others I have found - it was on a blog that I learned how to shampoo (you should also be tilting your head back as shampooing in the sink get shampoo and condition on your face- can cause acne).

Good and bad side....
Okay. I found a recipe on the internet for how to get rid of black head. Being myself, went and tried it. I put 1 teaspoon of baking soda and a bit of water to make it a paste. I put my head over boiling water to open my pores. Once i did that... i applied it to my face! At first it was a stinging sensation and then it sort of dried but not fully. I knew something was wrong, so i went back to the bowl and washed my face with a war cloth and warm water. It had tightened my pores. It also on the other hand was really smooth. I recommend if you are using this... to put a toner or a moisturizer on STRAIGHT after you wipe the scrub off. SO you get your PH evel up in your face!! The good side is that my face has never and i mean never been this clean. Its so soft and No blackheads after my FIRST GOOO!!! I thought that was amazing!!

So far so Good!

Pros:

easy on the pocket book
not harsh on skin
many other uses

I started using Baking Soda as a Face Mask in hopes to find something inexpensive to help eliminate my breakouts and blackheads. I first put a warm cloth over my face to open the pores. If I am short on time I wet a wash cloth with warm water and dab my face. Then I pour baking soda into the palm of my hand and add warm water. Scoop up the paste and apply it in a circular motion all around my face and nose area especially around the hairline. I leave on for 10 minutes and rinse off in the shower or sink again wiping my face gently in a circular motion. When the mask is on for ten minutes I do feel a slight burn like when you apply astringent but its nothing painful or nothing that results in my face being irritated or red. The pimples that I did have started to dry up and clear away. My face does feel softer and feels clean. So far so good! I also used it in the shower for my body and my skin feels great!

Pros:

evened out my skin tone

reduced redness drastically

exfoliated amazingly

Cons:

stung like a b*tch!

made my chin very red (like razor burn)

I thought I'd give this a go, as my parents are out so they wouldn't see me looking stupid, and my acne had flared up overnight. I put two teaspoons of baking soda in a small bowl and added water until it was a paste, i then rubbed it over my face, it foamed up a bit so i rubbed it down again. It started to sting after about a minute, but i stuck with it and the stinging stopped after about 5 minutes. It only stung my chin, which is where I often get razor burn after shaving, so I think they may be linked/ aggravating one another. 20 minutes later i stuck my head in a basin of warm water and rubbed all the baking soda off, i looked up into the mirror, and was so shocked! All the redness had gone out of my spots and my skin tone looked so much more even! It was fantastic! I definitely recommend this, if you can put up with the stinging it works a treat, or at least it did for me. I will definitely be continuing with this (at least as long as my parents go out regularly) :)
