Pros:

Cheap, natural, works like a gem :)

Cons:

Burns on sensitive spots if used for longer

I didn't know that baking soda couldn't be used as a mask, but when I did, it wasn't too bad. I have quite sensitive skin, but I left it on for ten minutes and only nose became irritated. I didn't spot an immediate different, but no treatment does. (I just added some water to baking soda to make a paste.) After that, I made a less watery paste and applied it on this double whammy of a pimple (it's disgusting, not really a whitehead, but this huge bump...) It drops all over your pillow, but you can't really tell. Just rinse your hair and you'll be fine. The next morning, my blackheads are clear (probably because I cleaned the stuff out of it and burned the heck out of my nose) and that big zit of death has toned down and the top layers of sebum are gone, so it's just a plain ol' whitehead now.

Pros:

Clears up acne - period and its inexpense. I must stress you don't need to mix any other cleaning products with this, please, I read some of the reviews most of you are still using to many products which is what is breaking you out!

Cons:

It doesn't sting, just itches slightly

Here is the deal: This stuff works better than any acne product on the market, I have tried them all proactive, etc. I've read the other reviews and most are using to many products. When using this product you dont need any other acne cleanser don't mix with anything else. Mix baking soda with water to form a "thin" paste and put it on the skin as a mask for at least 15-20 minutes until it dries. Next rinse off with cool water do not scrub your face, no need to, it has already done its intended purpose which is to disinfect the skin. You need this next: As a toner mix 1 part apple cider vineagar and 8 parts water and use with a cotton swab. This will bring the ph level back into balance and hydrate your skin. Trust me it works! Moisturize after. My skin was "horrible" and within 2 weeks my acne was totally cleared on my forehead, chin, cheeks and I haven't had a bad breadout since I've been using this for 3 months. You "will" see results within 1 week, be patient!!

It works but be ware!
I get Hormonal acne I am an adult over 30! My skin is normally clear but all of a sudden I got lots of breakouts for over a month and because I'm a picker it left black marks. I tried everything alo vera, vitamin C, lemons ECT... but I didn't give up because I'm a fighter LOL so my next thing was trying baking soda. I've tried baking soda before and it irritated my skin really really bad. This time I read an article that you mix it with vitamin E oil or Rosehip oil or vitamin C cream natural. I did this as a spot treatment only once again only use it as a spot treatment not all over your face is too harsh for your whole face. I woke up the next morning and my acne dark marks were noticeably lighter yay! 😀 Never use it on open sores or already pop pimples wait until they heal. While they're healing spot treat with Desitin diaper rash cream with zinc trust me. Next morning I woke up and my scars were lighter I'm going to do it again. I have supersensitive skin I advise if you do have supersensitive skin like me be careful and make sure use a light oil like rose hips after put right on after you wash the baking soda off. But don't leave the Rosehip oil on all night leave it on for about 20 minutes and then take a warm towel and wipe it off . I also use black African soap and it's very effective for keeping new bumps from coming on and drink plenty of water at least 10 cups a day good luck everyone if I have more news I will share you do likewise .

Not Recommend
I tried it at the time when I was struggled to search for treatment to cure my moderate acne. It is few years back since I got to try this remedy and I still remember how it worsen my face condition. I used to use it as a facial scrub or facial mask. And I really dislike the result post each usage. I feel like I scrub my face with salt which is something weird to me. It did a good job on smoothing out my face but it dried my skin at the same even though I had moisturised my face to reduce the discomfort. Face became much dryer if use it as a mask. As of the dryness of my skin, my face breakout unsually. I had alot of swelling and red acnes at that moment also. So, better take a try with one or two acnes on face to see whether it gives any bad reaction before use it on your entire face.

Didn't work
This didn't work at all for me. I have sensitive skin so I think that's the problem. Burned my face and left it dry and irritated.

Exfoliating Mask
So I tried a honey and baking soda exfoliating mask tonight and can say without a doubt that baking soda is good to use when sloughing off dead skin cells. However, I read a few reviews on here and decided to use very little baking soda. You don't want to use too much of this stuff and I would consider mixing it with organic honey, or aloe vera, or something else. Its the texture of sand and rubbing that much sand on your face could take off more than your skin needed it too. I'm looking elsewhere for a pore-closing mask. If you wanted to do this stuff just to get the 'lightening' of scars benefit, I would advise you to try using a recipe with aloe vera for a few months instead.

Very average
Works for a day in drying out pimples but they come back and the stuff is (eventually) very irritating to the skin. Not a long term solution.

Pros:

Cheap
Home remedy
Works well for some people
Good to add to your toothpaste every month or so to clean the stains off your teeth

Cons:

Made my pores bleed, literally
Stung
Didn't do much for acne - but I only used it once

I tried this diluted with water. It stung but at the time I thought nothing of it. Later on in the day I noticed little streaks of red on my face. Blood was coming out of my pores in tiny amounts all over my face where the baking soda had been. Needless to say I discontinued use. It took 3 days for my face to stop bleeding afterwards. I've never seen anything like it before and I wouldn't class my skin as sensitive, although it is perhaps a little dry. This seems to be an incredibly rare reaction, but please do exercise caution whilst using this product.
