Pros:

Halted cystic acne
Does not over dry skin

Cons:

Does not clear skin immediately like others have said
Ages skin a bit (dryness?)

I have been using this product for 2 weeks and I have noticed a difference: Before I started, I was waking up with new pimples every day and getting really anxious. Ever since I started using this medicine I no longer wake up with new pimples. But, at the same time, it had not completely cleared my skin and does absolutely nothing for scars. It has only been two weeks so I'm pretty happy so far. I do notice that my skin is drier and makeup does look a bit cake but its not as drying as Duac.

Pros:

effective, less drying side effect

Cons:

Acne got worse initially, slow to clear acne

You need patience with this medication, it took approximately six weeks before it started clearing acne. It got worse, after six weeks my face turned beautiful, however, I used Atralin with this.

PERFECT FOR HORMONAL ACNE
(From Accutane to Acanya!!!!) I'm 21 and I've suffered from severe acne since the beginning of puberty. I used to have several huge, painful cysts all over my checks until I took Accutane, which completely cleared me. Unfortunately, 3 years later, my skin had slowly gotten worse and worse, and began to look exactly like before I took Accutane. That all changed when I started using Acanya!!! I've been using this for about 2 months now and I honestly couldn't have had better results. My skin is not dry, it shrinks my big pimples and cysts over night, and it keeps the clogged pores and small white heads at bay. It has lightened my hyper-pigmentation leftover from previous breakouts, and I really believe that it helps prevent you from breaking out. This is how I use the Acanya gel at night: 1.) wash my face thoroughly- about 3 times with CeraVe foaming facial cleanser for normal to oily skin. (DOESN'T DRY OUT YOUR FACE, I LOVE THIS FACE WASH SO MUCH) 2.) Rinse face and make sure that there are no soap suds left and dry with a towel. 3.) Splash my face with water and I leave my face damp before applying the Acanya gel 4.) I apply literally no more than a pea size amount all over my problem areas. (It's important to have a damp face before applying it because it dilutes the gel and makes it easier to apply in a thin layer.) 5.) Get a q-tip and dab some more of the gel directly on my bigger pimples. 6.) Put Acanya in the fridge (I want it to last as long as possible). 6.) Go to bed and allow my face to air-dry. 7.) Wake up with smooth skin and no new breakouts!!! Good luck everyone, I hope that you all have the results that I had with the gel. Don't forget to leave your face damp before applying- that's the most important part!

Acanya works!
Acanya has worked wonderfully! I have been using Acanya for about two years and only one bottle lasts me 6 months!! It only takes a couple weeks to work and at first dries out your skin, but after the first month I noticed such an improvement!! I've had moderate to severe acne for a while now, and with Acanya all of it cleared up on my forehead, nose and chin, and with only one or two stubborn ones left on my cheeks every so often. I recently just ran out of my bottle and haven't had time to refill and am dying to get to the pharmacist! I use very expensive facewashes and nothing has compared. Plus if you get their coupon card on their website it is very affordable-especially for lasting me 6 months!!

Pros:

Works fast, gets rid of the deep acne, clears black heads

Cons:

face broke out at first from using (but that is any new product)

Started using this a week ago today, I already see results, I have not had the cystic acne that i was suffering from and on my cheeks i had red scaring that is now gone and i had a ton of black heads on my chin that are gone, just from one week! i have tried everything! i am very impressed with this product and recommend it. Not everything works for everyone though, I found that out the hard way of trying everything I saw on tv or heard from people. Try this, can't hurt.

Pros:

Cleared up my worst breakout
Kept Acne at bay
Stopped getting cystic acne
relatively cheap
Bottle lasts forever

Cons:

Can be drying (Whats not?)

This is the only thing that has kept my acne at bay completely! Ive tried proactiv, stress control kit, exposed, antibiotics, pretty much anything you can think of! I was going through the worst breakout ive ever had and went to the derm and got this prescribed! What an amazing product, takes about two weeks to see good results but it has changed my life! I use it with cetaphil and moisturize with CeraVe and morning and night. I used to be on a strict diet to control my acne but now I eat whatever I want and my face stays clear! Hope this helps

Pros:

- Clears acne
- Reduces redness
- Any zits that do pop up stay smaller than they usually would
- Doesn't dry out skin at all
- Easy to apply, and doesn't show on skin

Cons:

- Took 10 weeks to start seeing results

It took 10 weeks to work, but I am finally seeing results. I haven't had a "bad" pimple in weeks. My skin isn't 100% clear, probably more like 95% clear...but I am still happy with that result! It doesn't work on blackheads at all though, so I use Retin-A Micro on my nose/blackhead area. The Acanya gel is great because it is completely clear and doesn't show on the skin or under make-up. I still get the occasional pimples, but they stay quite small and don't get that red. Since I have oily skin and Acanya doesn't dry out your skin at all (which I kinda wish it did), I also use DDF Sulfur mask to reduce oilyness. The combo of DDF Sulfur mask and Acanya gel (used once a day at night) has been great :)

Pros:

Cleared up acne

Cons:

Made face oily
Expires quickly

I used this in the morning under my make-up, and it cleared up my acne. Unfortunately, it made my face extremely oily and I was constantly blotting my face. I was hoping the Acanya would make my skin look better, not worse! I went back to the dermatologist to get something else and now I'm trying BenzaClin. Hopefully that works better. Also, Acanya exires 2 months after you open it. There was no way I could have used the entire pump in 2 months, even with applying it every morning. It's a waste of money. Maybe they should consider making a smaller pump if they can't keep it from expiring so quickly.

Effective, but drying
About four weeks ago, I was put on 100mg doxy 2x day, acanya in the daytime, and adapalene 0.3% gel at night time for my severe acne (cystic on jawline and deep acne along cheeks). I have noticed a great improvement of my acne, most of it is on the surface now, with most of my cystic acne gone or now surface acne. The only qualm I have about this product is that it is very drying, which I can attribute to both this and the other two prescriptions. I have started using a tiny amount of organic, unrefined, cold-pressed coconut oil on top of this once it has dried so that I can return the lost moisture to my face and I find it is working well. This product is one you need to be patient with -- as is the case with all acne treatments. For having tried both clindamycin and benzoyl peroxide prior to no avail, I am impressed by how effective the two in tandem are!

I have the same type of acne (cystic on jawline and deep acne along cheeks) and not much has worked to clear it up. I'm starting acanya today. Taking that in the morning and Retin-A at night. I hope it works. I'm concerned about the drying out issue. Seems to be common with this medication. I use coconut oil on my body but never on my face in fear of the oil making my acne worse. Since it worked for you I'll give it a try. Thanks for your review. It was very helpful.

Pros:

Works immediately

Cons:

Soooo expensive

After five days of use I saw drastic results. The only effective product I've ever used. I've had acne for almost ten years and this is the only time I've been without it.
