Pros:

Good for you in many ways

Cons:

NOT GOOD FOR YOUR FACE!! I have had breakouts and it is bothering me. SO, I went on the web to check it out. I have breakouts on my chin, my cheek, and middle of forehead- this one is big & under the skin oil pocket that isn't even poppable. GROS!

I dunno if you want to try it...but I don't ever want to take it again!..The ground seeds seem better than the pills. Gave me pimples...and I usually have great skin. Feel embarrassed! Buy Omega 3,6,9--> works better for me.

Pros:

I've heard a lot of good things about Flaxseed and starting taking it in addition to Red Yeast Rice to help lower my not-to-high cholesterol.

Cons:

A few years ago I tried the dried flax but broke out with red bumps on my face & body, figured I was allergic.Recently I tried Flaxseed Oil Capsules for past 2 months & again, red pimple like bumps on arms & legs, cystic pimples on chin won't go away

So, I guess Flaxseed is not for me. I really need the Omega 3s but I can't tolerate these under-the-skin pimples that won't surface or go away! Help!! I've tried everything under the sun to clean my face and dried it out in the process -- but maybe now stopping the Flax, hopefully all will clear up. I'll let you know . . .

Pros:

Relatively cheap in the grand spectrum of skincare products. Easy to use/consume. And WOW it has a ton of Omega-3's in it!

Cons:

The taste is pretty gross, even if you mix it with food.

I think this is great for people who suffer from hormonal acne since flax seed oil balances your hormone levels. My skin is very bright, even hair and nails have improved. I've been taking 2 TBSP a day: I just drink it from a tablespoon and chase it down with a beverage. When I stopped taking it, the breakouts came back. If you've spent a lot of time and money hunting for the best thing for your acne, this is at least worth a try. The added health benefits are a huge bonus as well.

Stay away from Flaxseed Oil
Fish oil caps had given me the worst forehead acne - I've never had it before and when my dermo recommended that I take flax seed instead I was hesitant - and as it turns out, I should have listened to my gut instinct and said no because lo and behold, four days in, I'm sporting a crop of deep pimples across my forehead and it keeps on coming! If you're sensitive and have had problems with fish oil, I would NOT touch flaxseed.

Pros:

Cheaper than retinoids
Readily available
Has lessened the severity of my acne
Skin, hair and nails are better
I think it helps my red marks
I didn't experience an initial breakout

Cons:

Not an overnight cure
Remembering to take it consistently

I have been taking this on and off for about a year but in the last 6 weeks or so I have made the decision to take this properly as directed everyday and see what happens. I have light-moderate acne at any time so at my worst I have about 10-15 pustules and very inflamed but on a regular day I have about 3-5. This has kept me around the 3-5 pustule range in about the last 2 weeks so I'd say it took about 3/4 weeks for me to notice any decent effects. Before I never took this supplement for this long so I didn't get to see this. There is no indication that my skin is going to massively break out any time soon either it seems pretty controlled so it's looking good for this. I also think that my skin is just better in general too and that it's not as dry. I have combination skin so I can get dry irritated patches and this has helped. I think it also helps the red marks left by acne to fade away faster too. Bottom line: try it! I'm surprised by the changes in my skin after 6 weeks and I'm definitely going to continue to take this :)

Pros:

Flax seeds

Cons:

miracle

Use ground flax for your acne. It does a miracle for me!!! Never a bump again!!! Forget proactive solution, the problem is not outside of your skin it is inside of your body. You have inflamation in your intestines. Fax seeds help heal that.

Pros:

Cleared my face! Red marks fading slowly, smooth face, no more break outs.

Cons:

none

I take 2 Flaxseed Oil capsules, 1 morning and 1 at night with 50 mg of zinc. All I have now are redmarks left after acne. I also had an oily face but when I started using flaxseed it decreased the oiliness. Might help for people with the same condition. I use nature's made organic flax seed oil.

Stay away!
I am prone to getting hormonal acne around my mouth. Normally it's not bad and I can live with it. When I started taking flaxseed oil it got horrible and I only realized after weeks that this was the reason. I also think that I started to smell differently (maybe not true though). I stopped taking it immediately and it still took months for me to get back to normal. I think it's due to the phytoestrogens it contains. Many people are estrogen dominant anyways, especially if you suffer from hormonal acne (may be cause by xenoestrogens). I am currently trying out DIM, which I find a logical conclusion, since flaxseed made everything so much worse.

Pros:

No more acne!!! Seemed to help with my dry eyes a bit as well.

Cons:

None.

I am a twenty-eight year old female that has suffered from chronic, persistent acne since I was a teenager. I had tried numerous solutions (including two separate four month rounds of Accutane) all of which failed. I have also done an alternating series of six microdermabrasion treatments and six salicylic acid peels. These didn't help either. For me, acne only really occurred as a cluster of deep whiteheads on my cheeks resulting in a very bumpy texture. They were rarely inflammed. Sometimes these whiteheads (usually after picking and yes, I know I'm not supposed to but pushing the thick, white blockage out was the only thing that seemed to help) would turn nodular or cystic resulting in fortunately, only fairly mild scarring, but they always came back. I have been using three 1000mg gel tabs (two in the morning one at night) of flax oil per day for a few weeks and the all the bumps on my cheeks, even the deep ones are gone. I'm not saying this will work for everyone but it worked me

Pros:

Practically acne free when I stick to ground flaxseed daily. Skin is incredibly smooth and soft.
VERY easy to mix with smoothies (which means you can up your fruit intake as well!).
Many other beneficial properties (anti- cancer, inflammation

Cons:

Requires a lot of willpower to stick to it everyday.

This review is in regards to GROUND flaxseed. Although oil may contain more omega-3s, only ground flaxseed contains lignans (thought to decrease the risk of breast cancer) and other important nutrients. It is also very easy to mix with smoothies, cereal, breads, etc. I have moderate acne (although I am particularly prone to the cystic type - usually in mild doses). I have never found over the counter acne medications to do anything for me. When I stick to 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed per day, my acne virtually disappears. I find that my skin is very clear and soft. I also notice that I wear much less makeup - indicating that my skin is healthier with a natural "glow'. I attribute flaxseed's success to its ability to reduce inflammation. You MUST continue to take it. Recently I have gotten "lazy" and noticed a return of the cystic type acne. I will be resuming my flaxseed regimen to that I may once again enjoy healthy, natural looking skin.
