Caused cystic acne
This is the first review I've written- to warn the acne prone to stay away. My skin was clear for 8 months on the B5 regimen, then I started taking flax seed for my health and woke up to an acne cyst and now have a scar. Stay away!!!

Pros:

healthy, tasty if you mix it with a banana (for example)...and...

Cons:

I want to be careful as I read that taking more than 2 or 3 tablespoons of flaxseed (smashed) may change the hormonal balance....

and I read that estradiol may cause chloasma (sun spots due pregnancy) and flaxseed inhibits estradiol... so this can help me to get rid of some "sun spots" ... I am checking this because I remember that when I was taking like 3 tablespoons (that was too much but I didn't know by then...) the sun spots that I had became less noticeable... and somehow my face looked better... so I am returning to it.... I guess that the detail is also that when you begin to have flaxseed you have to try to reduce your intake of other oils... otherwise it can be be too much for you and acne may appear... In fact I began having this because I had something like blepharitis and now I don't have this and maybe the flaxseed helped me do it ... I suggest it ...

Pros:

Cheap, my skin has more of a glow. My break outs are clearing up, and my scaring is also healing.

Cons:

The oil tastes pretty bad.

Overall, there isn't a reason that people shouldn't be taking this. There are numerous health benefits, and I know my skin is looking a LOT better since I've been taking it. You have to wait about a week or two to see the effects, though. Also, I would suggest taking the oil over any capsules. Two teaspoons of oil is equal to roughly 12 or so capsules. The oil tastes like crap, but it is well worth it to man up and take it. My skin is looking better now than I can ever remember!

Pros:

It completely got rid of my acne. I use the seeds which you need to grind up but they seem to be the most effective.

Cons:

Sorry I have to say this but the seeds make you poop like crazy. But its worth it.

I started taking flaxseed for my general health and noticed a decrease in my acne. It has helped me lose weight (I wasn't trying but I just noticed) and has so many health benefits. I recommend the ground up seeds because they seem to work the best but if you can't get your hands on those then try the capsules. Even if you don't have acne, you should be taking this. Also for my last eye exam, my horrible vision got a bit better and my doctor asked if I had been taking flaxseed oil because it helps.

Pros:

saw a reduction in acne by taking 2 tbsp per

Cons:

Flax works better for females than males. Females bodies can more efficiently convert the ALA in flax to EPA and DHA. Males may have better results using fish oil instead.

Definitely helped my moderate acne but didn't get me completely clear.

This has been great for me. I just had a baby and have been battling with bad breakouts. I am breastfeeding so I wanted to use the most natural products. Not only has this almost cured my acne, it is suppose to benefit the baby when taken while breastfeeding. Even if it doesn't help your acne your skin will feel better. I also think there are too many benefits not to keep it in your diet.

Ground Flaxseed, Not Flaxseed Oil Works Wonders For Me
I had tried 1200mg of Flaxseed Oil a day as a supplement to help relieve a-fib symptoms. I had taken it in capsule form with food, but the oil had caused mild stomach pain every day so I stopped taking it. I then tried eating Ground Organic Flaxseed, a few tablespoons a day with a glass of water and WOW THAT WORKED! No stomach pain for one thing and I noticed it helps quiet my heart regarding a-fib symptoms. What surprised me most, however, was that it cleared-up my face regarding daily acne I had suffered years with from shaving! I had tried different soaps and various acne-fighting products for over 40 years rarely having a clear skin day! Now my face is clear nearly every day! Thank you God for this!

Never again!
it's been more than ayear that I have been having acne. my skin was fairly clear since until I became pregnant with my second child with indigestion, a friend of mine recommended I use flax seed/oil to help improve my metabolism. I researched on it as they said flax may not be good for pregnant women ( though I found out it was fine, in fact I gave birth to a super healthy boy). Anyway, I started getting some acne on my Left lower cheek... and to the right... I placed some topical cream hoping it would help which it did temporarily. now, more than a year has passed, and I still have acne that seems to get worse... I'm trying to remember what I did different why I started to have acne?! all I did was add flax seed to my diet... I guess I won't be taking any more flax starting today.
