Pros:

So easy
Works brilliantly

Cons:

Can take a while but it's better than cream personally as th dry and turn to scabs

How this works for you depends on your skin. I have been using for 2 months and my cysts have really gone down and little bumps and lumps don't grow as much. One thing I mus say is to persist, persist please. I don't think it's possible for these to make your skin worsen, maybe it's stress or hormones. Ask the doctor as it is not on the side effects

Pros:

-Works well
-Good for hormonal acne
-not as many "angry spots"

Cons:

-like all antibiotics, can cause side effects
-if you forget to take it, acne comes back

I haven't taken pills for acne before, but my doctor gave me this to try in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide 2.5. My acne has definately got better already, but obviously doesn't help with scars. I have noticed my skin had become very dry, and so has my hair, and also it can upset your stomach until you get used to it. but overall, good thing to try for first medication.

Worked fantastic ( depend on other medication you take)
I have been on lymecycline for over 6 years ( with a break while pregnant) it worked so well and couldn't believe my skin, I started weaning myself off as one of the side effects I have noticed developing ( yellowing/discolouring of teeth) so went to every other day which still maintained it, I then tried every 3rd day which continued well with occasional red patch lasting a few days only. However I have started a new medication for early menopause ( been on for approx 6 weeks) which has now caused my skin to be extremely dry, very sore and red with few pimples so I am now taking everyday again so far I haven't noticed a difference at all and worried now that I'm skin will be like this all the time, and being a beauty therapist doesn't look great for new clients who don't know I have rosecea . Anyone know of other medication that May worked just in case?

STICK WITH IT
All I can stress is stick with it! I suffer from acne and as I develop more my skin is getting worse. I was prescribed these and for the first 3 months nothing changed which I reported to my dermatologist and then it started kicking in. My skin is a lot better (although I do use a topical cream) but I still suffer. I have been on prescribed medication since I was 10/12, and before that I used Holland and Barretts Evening Primrose Oil, but this is the best thing I've tried.

Worked for me
I started taking this antibiotic over 4 years ago, after having a terrible breakout. I have been suffering with acne on and off since I was 13 (i'm now 29). I have tried everything, creams, diet, Vit D, ZINC, Dianette (which made me depressed), facials and talking therapy (but reluctant to try accutane, due to terrible side effects). So yeah, 4 years i've been taking Tetralysal on and off and it helped me hugely... I was having 5 new spots per day before taking it and within 2 weeks I was only having 1 new spot a week. Everytime I tried to come off the drug, within 5 days my acne would come back. Sadly, I think I may have built up a resistance to the drug because I am almost back to the skin I had before starting Tetralysal, having done a lot of research online it would appear that there is no real cure for acne sufferers, but many treatments and I suppose it's a case of finding out what works for you!? I am going to go back to my Doctor this week and perhaps go down the line of trying a new antibiotic, as I know the Tetralysal worked so well for me. I am not keen on taking antibiotics if i'm completely honest, but I haven't had any side effects as yet... apart from becoming resistant. Good luck people.

Pros:

It cleared up my spots completely!

Cons:

takes at least 6 months to see a satisfactory result so time consuming.

My GP precribed this for me as well as duac i used them both for at lest 9 months and no i have flawless skin not a single spot on my face just a few blemishes thats all. I really recommed to go to a GP but research the product wisely before you take what the doctor give you!

Pros:

Cleared my little pimples on my forehead
No harmful side effects
Once a day

Cons:

I've been on it for a while and it hasn't fully worked yet
Have to be incredibly patient for it to start fully working

A few years ago i had mild acne and decided to visit my local doctor. She prescribed me this product and when i started using it for 2 months my face was completely clear and smooth. I then went back to my doctor for a check up to see what the condition of my skin was. We both made an agreement that i should stop taking the antibiotics as my skin was flawless. About 2 months after i stopped taking the antibiotics i started to get a few pimples. I thought it was just something mild and didn't take much notice then, as time passed, it got worse and worse and worse. i couldn't stand it anymore so i visited my doctor again and she put me back on them. I have now been on them for 4 months and they SHOULD be working by now? can you become immune to these antibiotics?! i fear that my skin won't become clear again.... :( i have also been using retin A and i've been on that for 3 weeks AND STILL NO IMPROVEMENT. all i want is clear soft skin! is that much to ask?

Pros:

Fairly effective on moderate acne
Can be used alongside topical treatments (e.g. benzyl peroxide)
Improved back/shoulder acne

Cons:

Have to take a capsule everyday
May interfere with contraceptive pills
Takes several months for an improvement

I'm 26 and have had moderate acne on and off since I was 12. I mostly get cysts on my chin and jawline and occasionally forehead, but about 4 months ago my back started to break out too. I've tried just about all over the counter acne treatments and none worked, as well as trying benzyl peroxide, and topical antibiotics with very little improvement. Lymecycline has vastly improved my back acne and I now only have one or two spots on my chin. It means taking a capsule every day, but it's a small price to pay for being almost spot-free. It takes about 3-4 months to work, so don't give up if you don't notice an improvement straight away. Also, you can use topical treatments with it to improve the efficacy further. I've also been told that it's a long-term treatment and that if you come off them, you are likely to have an acne relapse, so I'm planning to stay on them for the foreseeable future.

Works well combined with healthy lifestyle (If you stick with it)
I've been on these back and forth over a year now (which you shouldnt, you must stick with the treatment from beginning to end) It works well for me, after only a couple of days i stop to get yellow "pore clugs" and it is getting better slowly but steady. However when my prescription had ended last time the crap came back, Almost worse than before. Probably because of poor diet etc. It works different for everyone but this medicine combined with healthy diet, exercise, plenty of sleep with a static sleep pattern and clean bedclothing works well for me.

I think you could be right about the healthy lifestyle, though not sure about the effectiveness of Lymecycline as I've only been using it about a week. But what you say does make s lot of sense: people do tend to rely just on the 'antibiotic' with no concern towards anything else that could potentially improve their skin and also have general benefits for the body e.g. , diet, exercise etc.

Pros:

Cleared my skin and prevented new breakouts.
This was good to get my skin back to a reasonable state. I have suffered from mild hormonal acne for years but had a terrible breakout which lasted a few months. My face was a mess and I was continuing to get new acne (small, medium and cystic) on a daily basis.
I was prescribed an 8 week course which was free on the NHS (I live in Wales).

Cons:

Acne came back within 10 days of finishing course.
It didn't upset my stomach, but it did make my bowels a bit softer than usual and I went every day, which was not my usual pattern, so that was a good thing.
Unfortunately, the acne came back within 10 days - not with a vengeance, but a definite return, nonetheless.

Temporary solution only. I took lymecycline for 8 weeks and enjoyed seeing my face get clearer from almost day one. I didn't even have any blackheads. It worked to get my skin back to a manageable state but didn't fix the problem permanently. Unless I want to stay on antibiotics indefinitely (I don't), I need to find an alternative solution.
