Pros:

- Cleared up 30% of acne
- Back acne greatly improved
- No major cystic breakouts
- Weight loss

Cons:

- Severe loss of appetite in first month
- Can make you gassy, and when you burp you get the horrible aftertaste
- Did not clear all of spots

Bottom line? My struggle isn't over but since taking this I have more clear days than I have ever done before and I guess one clear day can make all the difference. I was put on Tetralysal for two months, I saw about a 30% general improvement, and my back cleared completely. However, once I stopped my back flared up the worst it had ever been. The acne on my face has generally improved but have had one terrible breakout since I stopped taking them in November 2011. I also had an awful breakout during the last month of treatment. The kind of breakouts that take 3-4 weeks to clear up. I am back on them now for 4 months this time. My dermatologist hopes there will be a better improvement with the longer treatment. One month in so far. No severe appetite loss like last time (I dropped two dress sizes as a result). Skin is less prone to breakouts, generally feels easier to control, but spots are still there. I was disappointed with my first treatment but did get SOME results. I'd recommend this if you have only treated with topical creams so far. I feel like Lymecycline helps you gain a little bit more control over your acne and can offer a slight improvement.

Pros:

- When I first started taking them there was a dramatic improvement on my moderate acne with 3 weeks.
- No side effects.

Cons:

- Got the odd 1-3 around the time of the month, which I wasn't that bothered by.
- Came off them after around 18 months in the hope that my skin clear itself up naturally
- My skin then became a lot worse, so went back on them after 6 months and I've been on them now for around a month and a half. --- --There is no difference so far which is really disappointing, considering how quickly they became effective.
- Didn't sort out my black heads or white heads.

- Great for moderate acne. - Take consistently, do not take a break in between treatments! - They definitely work, however I'm worried I've become immune to them :-( - Be patient with them!

Pros:

Did reduce acne slighty (A LITTLE)
Acne not as red

Cons:

Did not get rid of most acne, I was patient and not expecting all of it to magically disapeer but it didn't reduce it by a lot
Side effects affected school life: constantley felt dizzy and as if I wasn't awake and in a dream

It didn't reduce my acne that much although it helped a little with the redness. I think it depends on the person really, and I was very patient and religously took it every morning at the same time. I don't think it was the antibiotic for me and tomorrow I'm about to start Dianette which is also a contraception drug.

Was my wonder drug!! BUT only 15 months
I was put on this at 15 in June 2016 and honestly it worked wonders. it cleared up my acne (obviously I still got a couple of spots but it was nowhere near acne and what can you ask for? its not made for miracles.), anyhow it cleared it up brilliantly until it started to deteriorate in September 2017(same time I started a new college) I came off it then (in hindsight a bad choice) and I'm now on something else, praying for a quick result. Honestly I would suggest trying it, it's unlikely that it will deteriorate for you as it did for me. Hope this helps someone :)

Worked for a while, then broke out like crazy
I started taking lymecycline around January for 5 months and after a few weeks my skin was so clear, I only had one or two spots and they were no where near as severe as they used to be. However, around the end of March my spots all came back and they were even worse than before and on places of my face that I never used to get them, so I stopped taking them a few weeks after my spots returned because they clearly had no effect now.

I have a very similar case to you.. I'm 4 months through my 6 month treatment and after having amazingly clear skin i've been breaking out real bad over the past week. :(

very impressed. (my skin is clear)

im very impressed with lymecycline. within a week it has seems to have completely switched off my adult acne and completely cleared my facial redness.

as it has also stopped my body over producing sebum, making my pores shrink.

Only thing thats worked for me!

This treatment may not work for everybody, however it really did work for me in conjunction with benzoyl peroxide (see pics)

I have suffered from acne for over 7 years and have tried so many different treatments e.g. different variations of the pill, adapelene, zineryt etc, however nothing has worked as well as this antibiotic!

Bear in mind my acne got way worse for the first 4 weeks of taking it, then began to clear up. I took it for 6 months (with no side effects!) and have been off it for 2 months now, and my skin has stayed clear without it. I'd recommend giving it a go, might not be for everybody but its the only treatment that has cleared my skin and kept it clear (minus scarring)

Hey, I'm quite close to going off lymecycline, and so far it has fully cleared up my skin- I'm just really scared to go off it. Has your skin stayed clear without taking it? I'm sorry I know this was posted like 4 years ago 😭

Don't take if you don't need.

I've been on this five years which is crazy but it works I will soon become ammune to it sigh which leads to dangerous fronts, people who review it and say anything about 4 weeks or anything know little or nothing about skin care and treatments

Didn't really do much at all

I used this for about 8 1/2 months and I had acne on my cheeks, neck, back and forehead and occasionally my chin (just some background, I had oily skin). The type of acne I had was more like a rash so my whole face was covered in small bumps under the skin with red lumps on my forehead and neck and back etc. It got rid of some of the red lumps but NOT the rash type acne under my skin at all. This DID work don't get me wrong, but only to a certain degree. It didn't completely clear up my face, however, it did work a bit. I would say its a starting point but I wouldn't go back on it as it didn't really do anything for me
