Pros:

Less Greesy skin.

Cons:

Loss of appitite, condition exactly the same, mood swings.

I'm on my 6th week of taking Dianette, I have so far seen no visible improvement on my face although my back and chest are starting to clear up. I am hoping my face will follow as it seems to have gotten slightly worse which is now affecting my job as it's too painful to put on make up and go out of the door. I have also had no desire to eat, I have not put on any weight, I have infact lost alot of weight and when I am only 7 stones (100lbs or 45kilos) its not good because I feel I'm going to become extremely ill if I lose anymore weight. I'm going to stick it out to maybe see an improvemnt on the face acne since my back and chest have started to clear up. This medication does sound a nightmare but I haven't found it as bad as I thought I would from reading the other stories here.

Pros:

Was on dianette for approx 13 years, age 15 to 27 for bad acne, oily skin.Had a couple of breaks to see if skin improved, but never did.Skin was clear.Moods,my moods were worse when i had acne,so pills helped my depression.

Cons:

Put on a lot of weight, used to be slim, headaches, some very painful, water retention.Cannot stay on these pills forever.Last year doctor took me off them, saying possible risks of liver tumours if on them for long time.Bit worried as been on it a while.

Super results for very bad skin if on them for a couple of years. But if you are still prone to acne in your 20s to 30s the doctors may not let you stay on them long term.Doctor put me on Yasmin instead he said it was almost as good for skin problem as Dianette. Yasmin gave me headaches for a while but seemed to be working.I stopped taking any pills a couple of months ago and as predicted skin is oily and spots coming back.Don't think i will ever be free from skin problems. My doctor have never offered any alterative cause for acne and any mention of polycystic ovary and they aren't interested.

Didn't work for me.
Taking dianette was a horrible experience for me. I am 16 years old and began dianette 5 months ago. I have mild acne on my back and moderate acne on my chest. I break out a lot on my face but mainly my jaw and chin. I had been on ovranette for nearly a year and saw no difference, my gp suggested dianette and I was happy to take it, I would have done anything to get rid of my acne. It helped my back acne but my face acne never changed and my chest acne has gotten worse. I gained a lot of weight and felt so self conscious. Before taking it I had a very high sex drive and while on it I had relatively no interest in sex. It is simply not worth it. I was an emotional mess and could not control my temper, I would get angry and go into a rage about the tiniest thing. I was a horrible person to be around, constantly crying and starting fights with my boyfriend. I felt so depressed and missed so many days of school. As one girl put it "you don't realise you're depressed until you come off it." This didn't help my acne at all and I would advise to consider all other options before taking dianette.

Day 4
I have been using Dianette for only 4 days but my skin has got worse in these 4 days, today it looks awful. My skin feels rough and it looks red and blotchy, although I am aware that it takes months to clear. Will be updating my progress.

Sorry for the really late reply! Unfortunately iI had to come off dinette after 3 weeks due to my leg going numb :( , so I never got to find out if it did work! Did you stay with it?

I started taking Co-cyprindiol just over a week ago and my acne has worsened dramatically. Right hand side of my chin has broken out in red, pus-filled cysts that are very painful. Not sure whether to stop or keep going. Any advice?

Didn't work but could for you.

Pros:

Contraceptive

Cons:

Made my acne a lot worse
Side effects- mood changes

I was on dianette for around three months for my moderate acne. During those three months my skin got a million times worse to the point in which i needed a dermatologist referral and am now on accutane. This wasn't the worst part of it though, It also really interfered with my moods. I became a very different person while i was on this, it made me very upset and angry. I had went from being quite a bubbly happy person to being really down all the time.My flatmates would agree and felt as though i was a different person when i was on it (they also got the brunt of my anger, poor them!). As soon as i came off it within a few weeks i felt as though a huge cloud had cleared and finally felt like myself again. Although this happened to me it doesn't mean the medication will not work for you. I know other people who have successfully been on it and not had any of the side effects i had. My one piece of advice for people on it is be aware of your moods and also tell someone else to look out for you because sometimes you can't judge for yourself.

Pros:

cleared up acne for the year and a bit!

Cons:

acne returned after i came off >.<

i am a 16 year old female and you know what that means? hormonal acne. i went on dianette for just over a year as i was prescribed it by my local GP. as many of the people have said on here, yes it did clear up my acne however, after i came off it, i broke out all over again. i would not say it returned "worse" but my acne was bad anyway. HOWEVER, after reading other forums about whether or not people broke out after coming off dianette i have found a way to control most of my acne after coming off. i now take vitamin D3 with a factor 3000 IU, evening primrose oil, along with OMEGA 3,6,9 (along with other herbal supplements such as green tea). i have also been monitoring my diet, such as eating less greasy foods, avoiding hydrogenated carbs and fats etc.. i have been drinking green tea and rooibos tea, and pure apple cider vinegar with water to help clean my system without anything harsh as i am still quite young... i hope that if anyone is thinking of coming off dianette they research on some of the supplements i listed and try some of them out... overall, this works for many people but if you are afraid to break out again and have not taken it before, only take it if there is a special occasion coming up!~ :)

Pros:

clears up skin completely

Cons:

takes ages to work
makes you always hungry so you gain weight

I would say to anyone who is using this product to STICK WITH IT! I read alot of reviews that say this works after afew months but for me this took about 6 months but it is definitly worth the wait! Ive tried most of the other prescription pills & nothing else has worked as well as this. I now only get the occasional blackhead where as before i was getting new big spots everyday. You do gain weight on this pill as it makes you constantly hungry but its worth it as its alot easier to get rid of unwanted weight than it is unwanted acne! I would 100% recomend this!

Pros:

Clears acne
Brighter skin

Cons:

Possible weight gain, not on the scales though! Maybe I'm just constantly bloated!

I have had moderate acne for the last 4-5 years and no matter what I did or tried on my skin nothing worked. Initially my Derm put me on Zineryt, which did work. However a few months after I stopped taking Zineryt I found that the spots came back. So I requested to be put on Zineryt again, however this time it didn't work AT ALL. So years went by and I carried on investing in the best skin care products all to no avail. What I also noticed was that I had excessive hair growth in weird places - OMG! However, my mum just said its hereditary so all I could do was wax it. I was also too embarrassed to ask my G.P about it so I tried to ignore it. Fast forward 5 years on I requested for an ultrasound scan and it turns put I have PCOS. The only reason I asked for a scan was as I noticed hair growth on my chin -___- omfg... Two weeks ago I started my course of dianette, one word- WOW! My skin only has one spot and all my superficial scars are fading nicely. The only side effects so far is a kind of sicky feeling albeit not too bad or strong sickness feeling. In addition, no weight gain yet but my boobs are somewhat tender and my stomach has appeared to have become permanently bloated- GRRRRRRR Anyways I am on week two only and I will update in about another months time how I am getting on. I am very uncomfortable about taking dianette because of all the bad press or reviews it's had so I am hoping to come off it within six months. As I said I will be posting an update in about 4 weeks. Another effect I am hoping dianette will have is on my uber large pores... I wonder if it helps in minimising the size of pores at all. Hmmmm... As a final note, my GP did say to take it for three months to see the benefits, so if your not seeing results immediately your going to have to be patient. Also, I refused to go on any pill without a scan first (I don't like the idea of messing with my body with meds unless necessary), and I'm gl

Pros:

Cleared acne up completely!! Left skin feeling so smooth and I can use any foundation as my skin wasnt oily anymore, which was always a problem of mine! Regulated periods

Cons:

On some occasions it dries up my forehead, but a bit of moisturiser tackles that problem!

Great!

Pros:

Perfect skin. Practically zero body hair. Contraceptive benefits. The all round beauty pill. Perfect for me!

Cons:

The only side effect I've experienced is a decreased sex drive. Catch 22 or what?

9 months of this and my skin is glorious and my hairiness is reduced. Didn't gain weight as I did with another combined pill before which is also the cause of my acne!! Periods are lighter and practically painless. In effect it is a beauty pill which is ironic because I am less inclined to sex which is a problem I'm dealing with together with my partner. I believe that everyone has a pill out there that works for them as an individual and you needn't put up with awful side effects. So if it's not working for you, try somethings else because you shouldnt put yourself through additional pain with pharmaceuticals. They should help you.
