Used Dove : Sensitive Skin Bar? Rate It:

Pros:

Cheap! And seems to be gentle without overly drying. I like the simplicity of the routine.

Cons:

Perhaps a tiny bit drying? We'll see after a few more uses.

I hope the Sensitive Skin Dove Bar works! I've tried many things. And now, I'm 34 with wrinkles and acne??!!! Annoying. I crave simplicity in my beauty routines (and life) and I think I just may be overdrying my skin with the 4+ steps in the Dermalogica line. Hopefully this with a light moisteriser will be enough to cool things down. I've been fighting acne my entire life!!!

Pros:

- Good lather
- Doesn't make face red
- Easy to rinse off

Cons:

- Makes skin feel tight after a minute or two

Okay so I started using this product on July 10th, 2009 and right now it is July 30th,2009 and I can say it has improved my skin very well after 20 days. My skin is brighter, more acne free, I have like only three blemishes, and softer. I went from like 18 pimples to 3 in a short amount of time. Also it is so safe for sensitive skin. Like I have terrible sensitive skin. If I use a product my skin doesn't like it makes my skin burn and flare up, which takes a week to recover. And this doesn't cause any reaction. I love this product so much! I am so glad I found this in my bathroom draw. Lol. Try it. It is worth ever penny and even not what do you have to lose? Acne of course!

Pros:

Lathers really well, washes off clean. Convenient to use the same bar soap that sits in your shower anyways for an all body and facial cleanser. 6 bars for $8 is cheap.

Cons:

Smell is pretty blah, but it's unscented so who cares.

I have tried proactiv, natures cure, minocycline, tetracycline, accutane (2X), all sorts of store bought face washes, strict diets, you name it for the last nine years, and the only thing that worked temporarily was the accutane. But without a daily regimen, its hard to maintain that. My acne is pretty mild, but some of the washes and stuff gave me flare ups, and basically each day was a toss up for me. Or they made my skin so tight and dry or sensitive to sun that i was limited to what i enjoyed doing. I read the reviews on here for this stuff and figured what the heck. Been using it for about a week and my skin is now flawless. I would never believe it unless i took a chance and tried it, but it really works incredible. Use it once in the morning and night, following it up with clean and clear soft spf15 face moisturizer at night. Waking up each day to clear, soft, healthy looking skin! TRY IT!

GREAT GREAT
My mom and I have eczema, and neither of us can deal much with heavily scented beauty products. We've always had some variety of Dove beauty bars at our respective homes for a long time, and this particular bar is a good option for the most sensitive of skins. I generally prefer the original (I like the gentle scent) and especially the Winter Care (I'm hoarding this next winter for sure), but I have used many bars of this to get clean without irritating my skin any further.

smells old
I have been using Sensitive for 5yrs. now. I bought some recently and it really smells bad. I thought it was my daughter not washing the towels correctly. To my amazement it is the soap. It reminds of old cooking oil. I buy the family pack and now money down the drain.

Yeah, that's the way unscented soap smells, lady. You actually wasted it?

Be nice, Human Doing. I think it has a funny smell too, even though it's unscented. Who cares if she wasted it:)

Pros:

Really soft
Works great for body acne
Cheap

Cons:

Bar soap is messy to carry around
doesn't work for face acne

I'm a 19 year old male and have had bad body acne for about 2-3 years now. I use this on my body and it works great for my body acne. I used to have a lot of acne on my back and chest, and I was always too rough when treating it and would over dry and cause a lot of scarring. Now I use dove sensitive bar and it cleared almost all of my body acne, i only get a few small zits sometimes and rarely i get one large one but for the most part its all gone. My scars are also fading slowly. Use a non-oil moisturizer on your body as well so it doesn't over dry. This combination is working great for me and I'm sure all my scars will disappear soon. If you have body acne i recommend dove highly! Be patient when using it because all of your acne won't dissapear in a week, it probably took me several weeks to see the acne go away and several months for most of my scars to fade.

Pros:

Doesn't strip my skin of oil!
Doesn't irritate my skin!
Smells good!
Lasts forever, I bought two bars for the price of one and one bar lasts me 2-3 months, so cheap!!!

Cons:

**Takes about a month to start seeing results!** I have been using this for two and a half months now.

Routine(face should be washed every 12 hours to help maintain oil balance): At night I take a washcloth and sponge my face with warm water(not hot, hot water means stronger chlorine on your skin if you use tap water which dries your skin out) to remove excess oil, then I lather my washcloth up with this soap so much my tan washcloth becomes white. lol I take it and wipe my face down a few times(your skin is exfoliated without stimulating or aggrivating the sensitive oil glands). I rinse off for a long time and pat my face dry with a towel. I take a q-tip and spot treat any huge pimples with clearisil ultra face wash. In the morning I take a paper towel to blot excess oil off and I wash my face with this soap with just my hands and pat dry with a towel. At first my skin was still oily and itched like crazy from purging but I stuck it through for the first two weeks. Then the most amazing thing happened, my pimples starting coming out my skin, I could litereally just pull them right out!!! Right now I only have 3 pimples on my face and my skin is nice and moisturized without excess oil.

Don't know why but it works!
In a bout of frustration I hit the reset button and decided to take a less is more strategy with my skin. I used the regular dove bar soap on my face at night followed by apple cider vinegar and cerave pm lotion and my skin loves this. I noticed a change right away the next morning! I know it's the bar soap because I was doing the other two steps with a different cleanser (la Roche posay) and was still breaking out. I am somewhat a skin care snob and have used it all cheap, expensive, natural (yes to tomatoes, galderma labs, alba botanica, aveda, boscia, bareminerals clay chameleon, I could go on) I was shocked that dove of all soaps is what is making my skin look and feel so nice. My skin looks healthier and I don't have any active acne. My cystic acne on the left side of my face is flattening out. I have been using this soap for 1 week now. I do make sure to tone and moisturize ALWAYS and I use a different cleanser in the am (nature's organics) Took off one star because although it is clearing up my skin the white heads on my nose are still there but I plan on using an aha chemical exfoliant for that.

Pros:

Gentle, Calming

Cons:

None

I began breaking out SEVERLY when i hit 30. I tried EVERYTHING..you name it...everything on the market to try to clear it. Then someone recommended Dove and I swear, it is 11 years later and it is the only thing I can use. It keeps my skin moist and clear. Anytime I sway from Dove b/c something looks 'nice', I begin breaking out and need to get back on the Dove for to get my skin back in control. I don't know about others, but i swear by it!

The Best for the price
My face became super sensitive from shaving and ingrown hairs, then dove came to the rescue. Fragranced soaps can sting and this soap is extremely gentle. I personally only use it for my face as it has proven itself to be too gentle for my body. For that I use lever2000.
