Pros:

For topical applications only (use powder form and dilute with water- make new batch everyday)

- brightens complexion
- lessens red acne scars
- slowly fills in pitted acne scars

Cons:

-takes a while to work

I originally started taking vitamin c supplements to stimulate collagen production and fill in the pitted scars that i have left over from acne. But, I never saw any noticeable results. I recently read that topical application of vitamin c can also stimulate collagen. BUT vitamin C degrades very easily in lotions and serums. So pharmaceutical companies have to add a lot of preservatives to them to make the vitamin c stable, hence the expensive price. Even with the expensive stuff, vitamin c can degrade very easily. A great alternative that I've found is this: buy vitamin c in powder form (ascorbic acid)- dilute in water and apply to face. This is the freshest form of vitamin c that you could ever get (aside from fruits). Since vitamin c is so unstable i make a new batch everyday. I've honestly seen great results with this. My red spots are fading and and my pitted scars are not so deep anymore.

Worked but....
This worked great and fast. I was taking between 1000-2000mg daily. Soon I came to realize vitamin c raises your blood sugar and after about a week it gave me the worse BV and yeast infection I have ever had. Needless to say that was the end of that.

Pros:

It works. I tried everything, tee tree oil, benzoil peroxide and all sorts of face cleansers. But I never thought that acne was caused from the inside. So I tried Vitamin c 2000mg per day. and my acne started clearing. My skin started to lighten and become smoother. I look 2 years younger at least from using this.

Cons:

Must remember to take it after eating.

Its a safe easy solution. Give it a try what do u have to loose except a few bucks.

Pros:

Good for the immune system

Cons:

It doesn't do anything for acne.

Do not expect vitamin c to work. I have been using it every day for years because it is good for the immune system, but it does nothing for acne.

Pros:

starts to brighten skin...

Cons:

Causes horrible deep cystic acne - and I usually don't have that problem! Vitamin C is in 80% of facial creams now so finding one that is free of it is tiring... you have to read ingredients VERY carefully because it has at least 15 different names.

I am talking uniquely about TOPICAL vitamin C, in facial creams and serums. I have not tried taking it internally. But I am so frustrated because for two years now I have been battling this but find next to no info on the web about it. Topical Vitamin C causes severe acne on my skin, every time, without fail. It sucks because most other women (if not all) find that it does heavenly things... life's not fair!!

Pros:

Using topical vitamin C has really improved my complexion. I apply it every morning to my face and neck. The number and size of the zits has gone down noticeably, and the ones I get heal a lot faster.

Cons:

When I first started using it, it seemed to cause a little bit of flare-up. Fortunately, the friend who told me about vitamin C warned me this might happen and told me to stay with it. I am very happy that I did!
Topical vitamin C can be pricey, but I have found ReCverin brand to be reasonable.

It has been a real find for me. I don't know why vitamin C skin serum for acne is not better known.

Pros:

I have noticed an improvement with oral Vitamin C supplementation, but topical vit C or forms of always cause me to break out just terribly.

Cons:

Topical Vit C in creams just becomes oxidized and loses its efficacy, so if you do not have a problem with topical vit c you need to find a powder form and add it in right before you apply it. I found a nice one at marie veronique.

Oral Vit C work well on acne, but topical Vit C can cause acne in some, not all people. With me, I get severe acne from topical vit C creams. If Vit C does not give you acne then make sure you add it in right before you apply it because it oxidizes so fast that it is not doing a darn thing because it is already oxidized. It has even lost its ability to lighten the scars....and you are paying extra for that vit c in the creams. Topical vit c works wonders for anti-aging also, so if it doesn't cause acne for a certain individual then it is a must to add to your cream before you apply. Try the anti-aging supplement at marie [link removed]. I unfortunately have to give it to my mother who doesn't get acne.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin within a week, all my blotches and purple marks from acne are fading alot faster too

Cons:

None

I never take the time to write on these forums, but i was searching for help with my incredibly stubborn acne. I had taken accutane for six months and it worked like a miracle. I went from having cystic acne for four years to looking like ive never had a pimple in my life. But after a few months all of my acne returned and i was very upset. I didnt know what to do, I didnt want to go back onto accutane bc I was suppose to get a series of chemical peels done. I looked into taking vitamins. I heard great reviews about vitamin c and so i tried it bc i had nothing else left. well wow my skin is glowing, it looks fantastic, my acne has dissapeared within the first week. I havent gotten a break out either. its def worth a try. I take about 2000 mg twice a day for now, but prob next week im going to lower the dosage. Its a miracle, everything i have ever tried has rarely worked. I feel great and my self esteem jumped back up.

Pros:

-reduces hyperpigmentation marks, minimizes red scarring
-improves overall skin texture
-didn't catch a cold in Canadian winter since taking it

Cons:

-takes a long time to see results on scarring, and only helps with pigmentation-related scars
-stings when applied topically

So I have been taking 1000mg of vitamin C daily, and also using it topically (philosophy's turbo booster c powder) mixed into my moisturizer. The overall tone and texture of my skin has been improving, and this is very important to me as a woman in her 30s that has had acne for just over a decade. I had a lot of pigmentation related issues, because even after some of the blemishes had healed, every single one of them left a dark spot on my face. I have very light-colored skin, so trying to cover these up was my biggest challenge every morning. Over the past 6 months, since using vitamin C two ways, i have seen a clear improvement on my skin. It doesnt "get rid of" acne per se, but my skin is healing much faster and my spots are lightening up. I wouldnt recommend this as a cure-all for moderately-severe to severe acne sufferers, but to those who need a little help with pigmentation.

Pros:

Helps a little to reduce excess oil and big breakouts. You won´t get flu. Good for your well being. Inexpensive and no side effects.

Cons:

Erhm, it isnt really an acne treatment.

I would recommend it, but for your well being. Doesn ´t really help acne if used alone.
