Be careful taking this!
If you have any stomach issues at all, be cautious taking this! I have PCOS and this supplement was recommended to me. I'm only a week in and have never experienced stomach pain this bad. I've had pain every day since starting it and I won't be continuing it.

Crazy how we all have unique reactions to different herbs. For me it was Vitex who caused so much stomach pain I was taken to the hospital. Then I tried Saw Palmetto and I had no reactions + it helped my acne. Hope you can find a herb that works for you, too!

Very confused
After reading how many women with cystic acne from pcos have had success with Saw Palmetto, I read up on the supplement. It supposedly acts as an anti-androgen. However, the information I read indicated it lowers estrogen. If it does in fact lower estrogen, wouldn't androgens then register higher, and acne would still exist or worsen for women taking it?

Asking a question and giving it 1 star is not a review! Add a comment as I am doing now if you have an actual question!!!

Pros:

Easy to take

Cons:

I have never looked so disgusting!

I was taking this as a natural alternative to spiro. I thought for sure this would be my miracle. I took it for a little over a week. The first couple days, nothing happened. About the 3rd or 4th day, I broke out like I never have before! My face is so covered in bumps...my chest and back look the worst they ever have. If this is the initial breakout....it's not worth it. I can't even look in the mirror...

Stay Away

Cons:

-I had to stop taking this because two and a half weeks in, I realized I definitely had brain fog. As in, I totally know what brain fog is as a result of this experience. Hard to concentrate, associate meaning with concepts, and my thinking was slow
-I was also gaining weight in my lower half. Perhaps this would level out after longer use, but I don't know.

This is an update to a review I posted over a year ago about saw palmetto: Saw palmetto is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. Some people experience brain fog and sexual dysfunction from inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to DHT. I've read that the mechanism of saw palmetto - even though it's natural - is similar to finasteride, a drug that has proven seriously dangerous for some men. Although I am a woman, I want to let everyone know that while saw palmetto may not bring you harm, taking it for a month has become the single biggest regret of my life. I realize how dramatic that sounds. But the brain fog I developed with it has never fully subsided, and my libido is low and nowhere NEAR what it used to be. Slow cognition and slow sex drive? Not worth it. Please think long and hard before deciding to try this. I'd give anything to go back and un-take it. Best of luck to all of you!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Did not work for me

Took a whole bottle of Saw Palmetto within 10 days and monitored the effects. Sad to say, the breakouts still kept coming, really wanted it to work.
