Yeah!
Hey peeps, so I'm gonna be brief and simple -not to bore you- I battled with acne since I was a teen, it wasn't extreme but it was very persistent and just wouldn't go away. I decided one day to dump all chemicals and shift to natural remedies, as they say: "You can't put things on your face that you wouldn't eat." Which I strongly believe in. What worked:- 1- Apple Cider Vinegar:- Raw ACV with the mother in it, worked like magic with me. 2- Olive oil:- Wonderful! Although I warn you, don't use it on a daily bases, and preferably after you steam your face. Also, preferably not to sleep in, as it can smudge all over the dirt on your pillow cases and sheets. 3- Lemon in diluted water:- Amazing! But also, heads up! Not to be used daily, regardless of your skin type. 4- Steam:- This has been the best grounds for starting any natural remedy, as it opens up your pores and helps with blood circulation. If you wanna smudge anything on your face, do it right after! 5- Honey + Olive oil + Lemon + Mashed banana:- INCREDIBLE! ESPECIALLY AFTER FACE-STEAM!!! Highly recommend this one, as it suits ALL SKIN TYPES. It acts as basically.. EVERYTHING. 6- Regularly consuming over 2-3 mugs of fresh green tea. Results take weeks to months to manifest, but it's highly effective when it becomes an-every-day regime. Promise! 7- Turmeric! Amazing! Just mix it with any other natural ingredient (honey, olive oil, coconut oil with lemon, etc) and don't keep it on for too long (30 minutes is good) and it works really well. Don't worry about the stains, they go off on their own quickly, you don't have to over-wash and dry your face, you'll wake up totally NOT looking like a simpson. ;) What didn't work:- 1- Retin A:- Dried up my skin and cured the acne, but I broke out all over again just weeks later. Baaaaaaad. 2- Overly washing the face with harsh soap:- The most important thing about keeping a healthy skin is MOISTURIZING! If your skin is dry on a regular basis, expect to break out. Trust me on this one. 3- Scented soap, oil, etc.. Anything scented, will MOST PROBABLY IRRITATE YOUR SKIN. 4- Toothpaste. Really bad choice. It dries up your skin, and it contains SLS (Sodium Sulfate LaurylLauryth). Baaaaaaaad. 5- Antibiotics. It takes too long to explain this one, but trust me, if anyone tells you they get cleared up afterwards, will not be followed by the fact they get break-outs again. It's not effective on the long run. And the re-break-outs, they're worse. Basically guys, don't let your skin get dependent on anything, thus don't overuse any treatment (especially if you are into chemical ones). The skin gets dependent, so when you stop using the product you'll just break out all over again. And this is where natural remedies kick in for the rescue, most of them don't cause dependence, nor irritation (if used in low to moderate times per dayweekmonth -it depends-. If ya'll got any questions, I'll be more than happy to answer!

Hi Sage - Thanks for this helpful review! I've been using the honey, lemon and banana face mask for some time now, and I love it! Could you share what kind of face wash and moisturizer you use? My face can get pretty dry - especially in the winter time - which leads to a lot of breakouts. Can't seems to find really good, fragrance-free cleanser and moisturizer.

Best
I have had bad acne and pigmentation since my teenage years. Have done facials and used sensitive skin products and no improvement. Recently due to mums suggestion I started using tumeric (please note the best tumeric is wild tumeric powder not curry tumeric powder). I use it with honey and yogurt, make a face mask and leave on for 15 min. Have been using it before bed for every three days. I wash it off with warm water and a cleanser after to remove stain. Wild tumeric has a nice smell as opposed to curry tumeric. This is making my pigmentation fade and acne is going. Highly recommend it.

6 days and its amazing!
I have been using turmeric, as the face mask and its fantastic! Ive been having mild acne for about a year now and I always get the nerve to pop my pimples and I hate it. My pimples only appear on my cheeks and become red and swollen when i pop them. Using this for less than a week I have seen the difference right away! I love it. My pimples are small now and not red or swollen. There going away slowly but quick in time. I make my mask by turmeric about half teaspoon, and i use normal flour for it to make it into a paste, i add milk, and honey because I have heard it helps your skin. If your white skinned it will leave your face yellow but using bar soap like dove or care it will go away right away. I love this and I recommend this to people with a few pimples or a lot because it makes swelling go away and redness will go away too in two applies. P.S.- I do this mask every two days.

Help?
I have a tan on my forehead and nose that I would like to get rid of. I know turmeric is good for lightening but what other ingredient should I use with it? Also, I have a lot of cheek pimples and redness.

Could be my acne saving grace.
I give four stars because of the obvious staining that occurs. I just exfoliate gently with a washrag. But for me... Turmeric mixed with almond oil to form a pasty mask has been the ONLY thing to both stop my breakouts and heal my hyper pigmentation. The almond oil has AHA properties and the turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties as well. My skin is superrr sensitive and this is the only thing that has manged to calm it down. Plus, almond oil has a comedogenic rating of 2 and my skin is really dry so it doesn't cause me to break out. One more plus, my skin naturally has yellow undertones so it just makes me look slightly more tan! This has been a great thing for my skin and I have hormonal acne on my face, chest and back. Only downside is that I have to do a full mask every 3-4 days or I start breaking out all over again. It's worth it to me.

Pros:

Skin is brighter
Smoothed out bumps
Less shiny
Whiteheads lessened

Cons:

Initially may cause 1 or 2 zits, but stick with it
Yellow stains

Turmeric works wonders on acne-ridden skin, as it has anti-inflammatory properties. It makes your face glow. HOW TO USE mix turmeric with some milk, lemon, honey, and apply to your face for 10-12 minutes. Rinse off without a cleanser, and apply moisturizer. Use only at night before bed, so if there is any yellow staining you can rinse it off with a cleanser the next morning

Turmeric- A Must Try!

Pros:

Helps with many different ailments/preventative
Anti-Inflammatory
Improves the look of skin

Cons:

Stains skin/clothes
Smells different
Make sure you drink plenty of water when taking it or it will come back up on you!

I have been using Turmeric for a nearly a year and a half. I noticed after a week that my skin began to improve. I simply take two capsules a day and sometimes open the capsule and mix it with a bit of water and use it as a spot treatment. This spice has so many other wonderful things that it helps/prevents other than acne so it definitely multi-purposeful. It is certainly worth a try... Just make sure you are consistent and take it every day and you should see some improvement. Don't expect it to clear your whole face but you should expect to see many diminish/disappear.

Worth trying
I use Tumeric every now and then as a face mask mixed with flour and honey. For me, I wouldn't say it clears breakouts, but it does help aid them a bit. My skin always feels softer and less irritated after using it. But, since I'm very fair skinned it tends to leave my face a pale shade of yellow afterwords. But, oh well.. at least then I have some color. :)
