Pros:

can lighten scars and ripen pimple.

Cons:

can be drying... or tingly... did not burn for me...

when I say lighten scars it takes about for me about 3 weeks because my scars are pretty dark... just imagine a few drops of soy sauce in a beige cloth... also my pimples are moderate, mostly under the surface but not the type where the puss can be seen so yeah baking soda helps the puss go up and then I squeeze it the right way (FOUND IT ON YOUTUBE) I know you might react thats not good to squeeze it but it works for me cuz it left a lil to nothing scar... when i say lil its like period.. by the way I am kinda tann ish asian... it felt tingly for me and did not dry my skin cuz I WEAR A MOISTURIZER after which is very important for my combination oily skin... if your not sure how your skin might react to baking soda...do this at night and you should just wear for a MAX OF 10 MINS! no more... for a week or 3 days then its up to you after that... How I do it is use a (Purpose) cleanser WITHOUT salicylic and benzoyl peroxide... 2 times if i have make up on... then baking soda mask (mixture of Baking soda and water)... then moisturizer or your basic acne treatment... that's all people... GOODLUCK! WISH you all well...

Pros:

Easy to obtain, smooth skin, works very fast

Cons:

Stings a little and may cause redness...But i do have sensitive skin.

Works amazing! I just used it for the first time today and I have already noticed that the size and redness of my acne is reduced. I have been battling moderately severe acne for years now and nothing has worked. Proactive, Clean and Clear, Clearasil, nothing worked. Baking Soda and water works amazingly. It did cause some skin irritation, while having the mask on it did sting a bit, and after washing it off, it looked like a had a sunburn on my nose, cheeks, and forehead. I followed up with a very light moisterizer to cool off the redness and that did the trick.

Title :)
I had acne in my teens which cleared up with birth control. But now that in in my 20's and I aknowledge hormonal BC doesn't work for my body in other ways and therefore quit, I developed adult acne on my cheeks, jawline, chest and back. But I'm so stoked. This past month and a half I've been using a pasty solution of baking soda and fractionated coconut oil. My goodness its made all the difference. My skin in less irritated and red, (probably because I no longer use harsh over the counter cleansers and spot treatments,) less clogged with sebum, and noticably smoother in appearance. Baking soda has cleansed while the coconut oil has moisturized. And I have incredibly oily skin! I've noticed that while using "dermatologist tested/recommended" products my skin over produced oil and therefore my pores became uncomfortably clogged and acne ridden. Thnks, corporate, capitalistic America. But with a home-mixed concoction of coconut oil and baking soda used as both a scrub every night and mask every so often, my skin has been restored to equilibrium. It's happy. Also, staying hydrated makes a difference. Please, I implore you, give this ago for at least a month. Be sure to mix in A LOT of baking soda for it's a very fine textured exfoliant. You need a lot relative to the amount of fractionated coconut oil you need to produce a balanced solution. I wish you good luck and happy skin :)

I'm starting to have the same issue that you were in and I live in a hot humid climate down south and I was wondering how much of the ingredients should be mixed together

Pros:

Effective.
Fast.
Really cheap.

Cons:

Slightly irritating at times

It works. It REALLY works. I tried this immidiately after i saw the remedy and went to bed. The next morning i had the cleanest and smoothest skin ive ever seen on my face. The only bad thing is that it can irritate your skin for about an hour or so if you use too much of it at once.

Calmed my irritated skin
I almost never have breakouts, maybe one or two blemished during my menstrual cycle. My business has recently expanded, and while painting the walls, I noticed the paint loosened and started to separate from the wall. So I took a scraper and started to chip away any the many layers covering the concrete. What a job it was. 8 hours or so for 5 days in a row I chipped away at the paint. It was hot, I was sweating, and I'd come home each day covered in chips of paint. After the second day I noticed my skin was irritated and deep zits were rising to the surface of my cheeks. After a couple more days I was positive it was related to the paint. My dog also started having wheezing attacks and it didn't take long before I realized the paint I was chipping away at and coming home each night covered in was lead paint. I stopped working and for the next two weeks I was tormented by the worst acne of my life. My skin was so irritated and every day it seemed new painful zits were popping up. Finally I decided I needed something cooling to just calm my capillaries and nutralize my very sensitive inflamed skin. I'm a huge fan of baking soda, it cured my heartburn that I suffered from for years. So without hesitation, I mixed baking soda with coconut oil each night and gently scrubbed my face with it. I saw incredible results literally the next day after using it. My pores calmed down, and I could see the skin smoothing out. It took a total of about five days, my skin healed and the acne retreated. I do highly recommend baking soda. I don't think it's something to fear. Sodium bicarbonate is a naturally occurring chemical in our bodies the regulates the level of electricity in our blood stream (ph levels). the balance of alkalinity and acidly in our bodies in crucial. Of course acids are important, acids digest our food in our stomach, but alkalinity is vital. Without making sure we take extra steps to alkaline ourselves our bodies tend to go acidic. Baking soda is a easy way to keep those levels in check.

Pros:

bang for your buck; for such a cheap price you couldn't get anything that works sooo well
you probably already have it in your kitchen
makes skin feel really fresh and balanced
not a ton of chemicals; you know what's going on your face

Cons:

might be harsh for sensitive skin
i like to leave it on for a good hour (my skin can handle it fine) but that can be time consuming
you look silly (but the results are worth it!)
can be drying (but much less than actual acne products i have tried)

baking soda has become a key part of my regimen. i stopped using it for a few months and swapped it for a prescription gel (ziana, don't do it) and regret it so much. i'm back to my old regimen and already seeing some improvement. here's what i do every night after i was my face: 1. a honey mask. put plain pure honey on your face for as long as you have time for. if you are just sitting around doing homework, i figure you may as well multitask. i will leave honey on for anywhere from 15 minutes if i am tired and rushed to 6 hours if i have a lot of homework. honey is super gentle, known to help keep your skin moisturized and be an antibacterial 2. BAKING SODA. take a small palm-full of baking soda and mix just enough water to make a paste. apply to your face and leave it on (a) til it dries hard (b) until it stings/irritates if you have sensitive skin (c) for about an hour if you have enough time to do so anyway. then rinse off with cold water 3. alpha hydrox. i have used both their cream and souffle (which contain 10 and 12 percent glycolic acid respectively) find here: [link removed] be careful if you have sensitive skin. 4. moisturize and that's it! more involved than i would like, but i haven't found anything that works better. my skin isn't perfect, but this gets it to the point where i don't feel like the light remaining acne really hurts my confidence. plus it's relatively inexpensive (the aha costs between 10 and 15 dollars) and you can do whatever while the masks are on. all of these things are great if (like me) you struggle with hyperpigmentation, because all of these things also help to lighten the skin/exfoliate and remove dark spots. as far as the baking soda goes, please try it, you really have nothing to lose except maybe some acne

Pros:

Clears acne 100%
Takes Away Excess Oils
Prevents Future Breakouts
Brightens Dark Spots
Cheap To Buy

Cons:

Overly Dries, May need to moisturize skin afterwards

I had been suffering from breakouts since I was fourteen years old I am now twenty four, nothing ever worked for me. I tried Proactiv and Murad and nothing has made my skin as soft and clear as baking soda. I use it twice a day, once in the morning and once at night and at least once a day I moisturize my skin afterwards. I waited for about two months to write this review just to make sure this would work and it did, MY SKIN HAS NEVER LOOKED THIS CLEAR, I can finally wear my hair off my face without being embarrassed about my acne. Thank god for helping me find something that worked for me and that is so cheap to buy.

Pros:

-Only thing that has cleared my acne
-Makes skin glow
-Less Redness
-Costs $1

Cons:

-Burns if left on too long

This stuff is miraculous!! I have researched and tested everything but nothing has given me overnight results like this. In 3 days all of my current acne was GONE. I couldn't tell you how stupid I feel for wasting money on drug store products and expensive over the counter products! What I do: 1. Wash off make up with olive oil bar (Kiss my face) 2. Pour a little bit of baking soda in my hand and, while my face is still wet, gently rub it on my skin for 30 seconds 3. Use unrefined virgin coconut oil as a moisturizer I only do this at night because it can be drying. Please try this!! Natural products are SOO much better and inexpensive.

Pros:

*Natural
*makes skin soft
*easy to use
*clear pores
*perfect for black heads
*cheap
*sucks dirt out of pores

Cons:

*can be harsh for sensative skin
*messy
*If not used correctly can be violent

take one cup of baking soda but make sure it is not an extremely strong type, I made this mistake by using baking soda i bought from a Russian store which is 100% baking soda and extremely strong. 1)to the baking soda add just enough water to make a paste 2)add 2 teaspoons of fresh lemon juice 3)1 tablespoon of sugar **the fallowing is optional** * 1 tablespoon of olive oil (if skin is extremly dry) *1 egg white *a drop of honey *1 teaspoon of lavender oil *Dried basil then put on area that is littered by black heads.I have horrible black heads on my nose that literally stick out. Bottom line, it may sting at first but with evreyday use you will notice your black heads to be completely gone and in my case completely flatten. I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT BEING APPLIED TO SKIN OTHER THEN NOSE OR CHIN.
