Pros:

Cleared my skin
Reduced my acne scaring
Didn't dry out my skin too much
My face actually felt clean

Cons:

Dried out my skin a little, but nothing a moisturizer couldn't fix

I was using Proactiv for almost a year and then this past November I stopped and my skin went crazy. For about 3-4 months I had horrible breakouts, big, red and painful. I tried everything under the sun because I didn't want to use Proactiv anymore but I got fed up and I tried going back to it after all and it only made my skin worse. So finally after another 3 months of being back on and seeing no results I decided to give Cetaphil a try since I had used it previously and had heard such great things about it. Well let me tell you, the first week I saw results, My skin feels soft and my breakouts stopped and my acne scars are even fading. I'm so so happy with the results. I guess what they say is really true, sometimes simple is better! I strongly recommend this is you're having trouble with your skin, sometimes something simple goes a long way!

Pros:

Smooth skin
Cleared most of acne
No oily skin
A little goes a loooooong way

Cons:

Face feels a little slippery after rinsing

I quite like this brand, and despite the price tag I've found that a tiny bit goes a really really long way. The liquid is like a translucent gel and while it won't appear to have a dramatic clean with massive amounts of bubbles, it still left the skin feeling refreshed and clean, no irritation at all. Don't listen to the people harping on about the sodium laureth sulfate, unless you plan on leaving this product on your face for HOURS to get a POSSIBLE irritation. Coupled with a light weekly exfoliation, my pimples (which are like little bumps with hard plugs inside them, almost impossible to get out without resorting to squeezing) beat a hasty retreat and my scars seem to be improving as well.

Pros:

- Doesn't make acne worse
- Cleans thoroughly
- Easy to use

Cons:

- None!

Basically, I use Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser twice a day (morning and night) when I'm sweating a lot and my skin needs a more thorough clean (i.e. summer). I use Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser twice a day (morning and night) in the winter months when my skin is less oily and needs a gentler clean. I find that unless you are really sweaty, the Oily Skin Cleanser tends to dry out your skin, so only use this if you need it. I have noticed that my skin is less oily after I use the Oily Skin Cleanser for a couple of weeks. It doesn't make my acne any worse and definitely cleans skin well. It may not be the best cleanser out there, but it is certainly the best I've ever used.

Pros:

gentle
for the most part effective
doesn't irritate or dry out
makes skin soft

Cons:

didn't clean deeply
sometimes got breakouts
slowly working

I've been using this for like two or three years and am very satisfied. I have sensitive skin, and it's perfect for that. However, sometimes, in the morning, I'll wake up to oily skin again. Also, if I were to get a sudden breakout, it's not anything that will zap it quickly or anything. It keeps acne to a minimum, which is good. But sometimes I think it's a bit too gentle and not effective enough.

Pros:

Doesn't dry your skin. Keeps your skins natural oils. Clears your face, repairs and heals prior acne scars. Keeps your face from producing too much sebum. Oh and it smells good.

Cons:

zero.

I'm talking about the oily skin cleanser, the gentle skin cleanser was ok, I still broke out though, but this is on another level for oily skin people. Its been a few weeks and I haven't had any new acne, the previous scars are fading and my skin looks the best it has in over a decade, this stuff really works, I won't ask too many questions, just be grateful. this is for people with acne prone, oily skin! I'm sure it would dry up somebody with normal to dry skin. And it foams and lathers up, unlike the basic gentle skin cleanser. Good stuff. 20 bucks for the 500 ml bottle at shoppers.

Pros:

Cleans face
Gentle wash (maybe bad for others)
Cheap
Doesn't irratate skin

Cons:

Doesn't treat acne by itself (which I didn't expect it too and I'm totally fine with it)
Feels weird after you rinse it off, but whatever
Funny smell, but it can't be any worse than putting piss on your face and smelling that(there are people that actually do it I have nothing against it and if it works for them, well good for them)

I've been using Rodan and Fields Unblemish for awhile, but I think around December they changed the formula and made it stronger which really irratated my already really greasy, sensitive and very dry skin. I had a very nasty breakout which I have very small permanent scars from. I started figuring out that the less chemicals I put on my face the better it was for the skin. So I removed the toner from the kit and used only the wash and the old moisturizer from when it was ony 2.5% BP. Just recently I ran out of the wash and I was at Target looking for a wash. Now I've heard of Cetaphil before, but was skeptical about it. So there I saw it on the shelf and was like "This is the wash I'm trusting my face with for the next two weeks. F**k it Cetaphil it is." Wow. I really like this stuff. Its way cheaper than what I used to get and I'm just blown away. One tip though. Wash with hot water and wash the grease off and open the pores then put this stuff on rub it in and rinse off with hot water.

Pros:

nice scent, took away excess oil, didn't overdry, cheap, available, didn't make acne worse great in the shower, awesome for everyday! i could go on and on!

Cons:

none really..... just doesnt clear acne by itself, which is to be expected! you use a treatment to treat acne, not a face wash people, duh!

ok, i LOVE LOVE LOVE this product! i have been using it for a few weeks, and cant get enough of it! i found this website when i was completely desperate and was about to head to the mental institution for going totally OCD about my acne, but then i read practically this entire site! what dan says totally makes sense! i went through his products and chose: -cetaphil daily skin cleanser -dans very own BP (miracle worker!!) - ester c moisturizor w/ vitamin c and lemme tell ya.....IT WORKED FANTASTIC!! for all you people out there who said that this cleanser didnt help to clear your acne, well DING DING DING CONGRADULATIONS, CAPTIN OBVIOUS!!!!! you didnt need sherlock holmes to figure that out, now did ya?! you are supposed to just gently cleanse your skin, which this product does perfectly!!! :-) then i would reccomend getting dans BP and a great moisturizor to add the perfect touch!!! trust me, my face is COMPLETELY clear!!! and i used to get like 5 cysts at a time!!! (sooooo gross!) i havent looked this good since second grade, sadly... :'(... oh well, the past is the past, so i've moved on to better things, like having amazing skin and getting my life back!! :-) so try it, what have you got to lose?? oh and by the way, moderate is how my acne used to be, now i dont have any!! and im freakin 15!!!!!!! :-D

Pros:

-helped control oil
-did not overdry my combination skin
-did not irritate already existing acne

Cons:

-did nothing in terms of my acne
-i found under the skin bumps on my forehead after using this

I switched from using a product containing salicylic acid to using a gentle product (Cetaphil) and tried using it for about a month and a half twice a day, however, it actually did nothing for my acne besides make breakouts more severe. I gave it 2/5 because it did help a little bit with oil control but I'm pretty sure you could find a better product that helps fight oil AND acne. It is a good gentle cleanser with those who don't have to fight acne because it just simply cleanses the skin.

Pros:

- so gentle on the skin
- softens the face
- improves scarring
- controls oil throughout the day
- effective cleanser

Cons:

- some dislike the smell, but it doesn't bother me

Wow. This product pleasantly surprised me. I've passed it up so many times, but it has finally found its way into my cabinet, and I'm happy I gave it a shot. My acne has been out of control for numerous years. I've tried a lot of harsh, medicated cleansers that only amplified the problem and caused my face to kick into oil production overdrive. Finally, I decided to dump the harsh products and change my strategy. I heard about Cetaphil's cleansers and went out and got this bottle (it was the last one too!). In just a week, I've seen more improvement in my face than I've seen with other products I've used for months. My face feels so soft after using it, and my skin is fresh and clean feeling without being dry and irritated. My acne has improved significantly (though I use other products specifically for that). My complexion has brightened and my scars are softening. My face is also much less oily though out the day. This product will not lather, but that is because it doesn't have harsh sulfates it it. It doesn't have to lather to clean your face. The smell is a little strong, but it isn't an overpowering odor. Besides, when a product works so well, smell is pretty irrelevant to me. It also may seem a little pricey, but you get 16 ounces for about $11.00, and it goes a long way. I will continue to use this product. It's a great basic cleanser and actually improves your skin as a whole, instead of targeting only acne and damaging the rest in the process. I would recommend this as a good addition to your skin care routine.

Pros:

~Very gently on skin
~Redness reduce
~Less oily skin after use.
~A little bit over drying after wash

Cons:

Doesn't remove makeup

I wash my face with this in the morning and night. In the mornings I splash Cold water to my face to get the blood flowing , then I splash with warm water to open my pores up. Then i pump 2 pumps of cetaphil and lather into my entire face. Them i rinse with warm water . Then I splash my face with cold water to close the pores. Then i let my face air dry. This product is very good if you will like to reduce redness. So far i haven't seen an improvement on my acne but i only have been using this product for a week an a half.

Pores do not have muscles thus, they do not open or close. The only thing that expands pores is the matter clogged within them.
