Awful !
Been using this gel for nearly 3 month, due to a manafacturing problem with duac gel i had now been perscribed this gel , didnt have many spots before hand and orginally only got bad spots on my chin area, after using this gel my skin became extremely red and especially my chin and although the spots i have arnt painful as they once were they are now all over my face ! I have had to stop with this gel completely due to my chin being extremely red, dry to the point its so tight it hurt when i move my mouth in a large way, stopped thus gel for around 5 days and bought some E45 which seems to be slowly taking the stubbord dryness away. After reading many good reviews i was still skeptical to start it but i did start it and cannot say how much i regret this, anyone waring of starting this gel i reccomnded you not to as my experience as a 15 year old girl who once only got larger spots at that time of the month now has them all over her face, and a very painful, dry skin complexion All in all i would not reccomend starting this gel i once had spots only on my chin and rarely anywere else and now my chin and cheeks are very inflammed, hopefully i can now try to recover my skin

Best retinoid for me
Out of all the topical retinoids offered to me through my 12 years with acne this has been the most effective. My acne is extremely resistant to treatment and I've been on Accutane twice but this kept it at manageable levels. If starting out with this, only use it a few nights a week. It's drying and irritating. Each time I've gone back to using it I've had an extreme initial breakout / purge which is so difficult to deal with but overall it's my favourite topical I go back to again and again.

Hi, I am 21 male. My doctor prescribed me Isotrexin. I have been using it for two months now. Can you tell me how long does it take before the medication actually starts working? Furthermore, how good is this medicine when it comes to dealing with scars. Thank you.

Pros:

Works pretty quickly - only a few days and my spots are already flat and smooth.

Cons:

Very drying and quite harsh to the skin - have to rub alot of vaseline to eliviate the peeling and drying effects.

I would really recommend it - working quickly and i already feel much better - prevents pimples from forming and smooths out all the skin on your face. Probably better for moderate acne, maximum though.

Pros:

Brighter, smoother looking skin with less black heads and spots

Cons:

irritating sting when applied, dry peeling skin

I was prescribed the isotrexin gel along with the oxytetracycline 250mg tablets, i have had to apply it one a day for almost three months now, initially starting with a very small amount on my face and gradually increasing the dosage. It seemed to work straight away (well within a week) with the skin appearing clearer and as other say more 'radiant'. It does however have its downsides, most significantly for me is the way it seems to dry the skin, causing unsightly flakiness if i don't apply sufficient quantities of moisturiser. All in all its an effective easy to use treatment.

Pros:

Works very well

Cons:

Does 'peel off' but if you can use just a little its better

This worked perfectly on my spots but I did have to use it for about 6 weeks before I saw the full effects. My acne is only really bad under my jawline but it also works on any other little spots. I also get it on prescription so its free for me. I tried a few things before this with no effect whatsoever but this cleared up my skin completely.

Pros:

It only took a few weeks to get rid of the spots

Cons:

- my skin felt really tight after using it
- my skin becam really dry and flaky - lots of peeling

it works really well dont forget to skip a day or two occasionally to get the full effect. use it at night - wash your face well before though in the morning use a really good exfoliator to get rid of the dry peeling skin - a real must if u are going to wear make -up i get this free on prescription - 30g lasts me ages to get right amount to use on face/back etc squeeze out onto index fingertip. just the fingtertip section though (three sections to the finger)

Pros:

its really good to use for me. i went through a bad time where i was getting about 5 spots every day! when my mum bought it, after 1 week the acne was almost completely gone. wif u have quite a few spots in one given area, u can apply it

Cons:

there is a lot of peeling of the skin. sometimes it looks stupid lol.. also i have big empty pores because of bad spots. how do i get rid of it? also, i have red little blotches over my forhead and cheeks where spots were there how do u get rid of it

use it! its really good.. it boosts your confidence and you dont really have to worry about your face anymore use it once a day either at night or in the morning and leave it on for quite a long time (6-9 hours) and wash it away with a flannel. if the stuff is hurting or burns when applied, do not use it cuz it will irritate the skin and u cud be allergic to it. use a less malignant gel.
